Here are the next couple of days...
Kona Cafe, 12/20 10am breakfast ADR, 2nd time eating here, but not since 1999 and then it was lunch
DH had the Big Kahuna $9.99
tomato juice $2.29
I had the macadamia nut pancakes $8.29
tomato juice $2.29
DS had the steak and eggs $12.99
a raspberry smoothie $4.00
and DH and I split a pot of Kona pressed coffee $7.49
our 20% savings with the DDE was $9.47
Total amount due with tax...$40.34 and we left a tip of $10.00
We are not big breakfast eaters and really hate eating it too early so as DS said about this meal..."it was worth getting up for."
DH said everything on his plate...scrambled eggs, french toast, pancakes, home fries, bacon and sausage were great though the ham was dry and I agreed on the ham. My pancakes were fantastic...I've always said if they don't need syrup I know they are good. I ate mine with just the macadamia nut butter and crushed pineapple....delish! I'd get these again! DS thought his was perfect and ate every bite except for the 2 little biscuits. The smoothie was just that...smooth!! The coffee gave each of us about 1 1/2 cups...just enough and it was so much better than the Maxwell House we had in the room..lol
Okay, this was a bit pricey for a breakfast, but it was actually both that and lunch for us this day so it was more reasonable. We really enjoyed this meal and loved going back to the Poly...the first place we stayed as a family.
We know we'll go back to Kona and probably for another late breakfast and perhaps even a lunch or dinner on the next trip.
Grade: A+
Snacks for the day...
We hit Aloha Isle...
DH had the pineapple Dole whip $2.89
DS had the vanilla $2.89
I had the dole whip float $3.49
This is our new favorite snacks...I love the float...eat some of the dole whip then stir the rest into the pineapple juice...yum...smoothie! DH had to have his own this time since he liked mine so much last trip and DS said the vanilla is the best in the park...has a hint of honey we think.
Then as we watched the Share a Dream parade DS insisted on his turkey leg, which we got from the cart in Frontierland. This was the juiciest turkey leg ever...it just dripped off his hand while he ate it...every bit! That kid's been eating those things since he was 7 and loves them.
Cinderella's Royal Table, 12/20 early dinner ADR, 4:30pm, 2nd time here, the last in 2003 for lunch
Our table was decorated with Mickey dust and we couldn't figure out why....
DH had the seafood eggroll $8.20, the pork tenderloin with baked pasta and gruyere cheese $24.50, soda $2.19, and the fantasyland sundae for dessert $6.20
DS had the caesar salad $5.20, queen's cut prime rib and mashed potatoes $23.50, soda $2.19, and chocolate cake $6.20
I had the caesar salad $5.20, fillet of beef with veggies $28.50, iced tea $2.19, and the slipper dessert $10.20
our 20% savings with DDE was $24.85 and the amount due with tax was $105.89. We left a $22.00 tip.
DH loved the eggroll and the pork tenderloin, but the pasta was very dried out so it wasn't as good. Since our return and my posting the photos on the DIS another person posted this dish and the pasta looked MUCH better. DH thought the sundae was his best choice for dessert the entire trip...sorbet and fruit...very light...very refreshing and not very filling.
DS loved everything about his meal except the asiago cheese crisp on the salad...I concur that it was highly peppered and didn't care for it. DS said the mashed potatoes were...well, potatoes Mom...and the cake was just like what he'd eated at Olivia's earlier on the trip.
For me...the beef was good...flavored well and a perfect medium. The veggies with it weren't mushy, except for a few and included squash and carrots. The slipper dessert was verra nicely presented, though it was missing the angel food cake pillow my Dniece had told me about from her trip in June. I had to special order this before we left...not a big deal..just called main number, was transferred to CRT and made the request. I expected that I would have to remind the CM that I had a special dessert, but did not and the boys tell me I was quite "got" as the CM just brought it to the table. When I saw the plate I then understood the Mickey dust...
When the CM took my order on the phone she asked if we were celebrating anything special. I told her..."Christmas at WDW, isn't that enough?" So she must have noted it on the ADR...too funny! But I felt like a real
for a short while as I enjoyed the slipper. DH and DS got a good chuckle out of it.
We really enjoyed our meal, didn't feel rushed at all and well, just being in the castle sitting by a window where we could watch the carrousel...it's truly magical!
Now, as to returning? We can't say until we get a look at the new arrangements that are coming...we just might, but then again...
Grade: B
Snacks at MVMCP...
We had some of the free hot cocoa and snickerdoodle cookies...cookies were great! But the cocoa was a little watery, but it worked to wash down the cookie.
DS splurged on some plain ol' vanilla ice cream at the ice cream parlor on Main Street...said he liked the vanilla dole whip much better...what a waste of money he said on the Edys stuff...
