We are getting ready to go register for the baby and I'm trying to weed my way through the millions of strollers out there :faint: . Both my husband and I are very tall so anything with shorter handles is not going to work. I don't necessarily need a travel system because the baby is due in December so we really won't be out and about much for the first several months and if we do, I have either a wrap or sling... or I may get one of those cart frames that you can attach the car seat.

I went to a USA Baby store today and they had one that looked really cool. It's an Inglesina Zippy stroller. It's normally a $350 stroller but they have a floor model on clearance for $200. I have never heard of it before so I was curious if anyone has one or knows about it or has any other recommendations.

Please help a clueless mommy to be out

I don't know anything about the Zippy, but I recommend the Peg Perego Pliko P3. I just got this stroller and love it! The handles adjust height which works good for us since I'm 5'6" and my husband is 6'1. I also like that it folds like an umbrella stroller and is lighter than some of the full size strollers out there. Toys R Us is having an awesome sale on some strollers today and they had the Maclaren Ryder on sale for $57 which is a great deal because it's normally $200+. But you may have to hurry on that because they were going fast.

Check out stroller reveiws/advice at these message boards...

Tall people seem to prefer Maclarens. I'm not tall, so I can't give you any direct advice! Just make sure that you test drive them (tall people or even just regular folks with longer strides tend to kick the back wheels), fold and unfold, to see what you like after you get some recs (Macs, Pegs, and Inglesinas are all good brands). I learned this from experience - look for lightweight/compact fold if you have to get the thing in and out of the trunk. I think that the Inglesina fits the bill!

Enjoy!

I second the Peg Perego Pliko P3! I (and my DS) LOVE that stroller...it's so convenient to fold, as the previous poster said, and I have a sedan and it fits nicely in the trunk without taking up too much room. My DS will be 1 next week and he's been riding comfy since he was about 6 weeks old (fully reclining is great).
I also have, and STRONGLY recommend, the Bob Revolution. It's a jogging stroller and it's expensive, but I think it goes to 65 lbs (don't quote me, but I think that's what I recall). The front wheel swivels, which makes it really easy to handle, when most jogging strollers have a stationary front wheel that makes the turning radius HUGE!
Good luck on finding a comfy stroller...there's so many to choose from now. And congrats!:goodvibes

I third the Peg Perego Pliko P3. I bought a travel system with my first, and hated every minute of it. The P3 is so compact, yet comfortable at the same time.

I have heard of the Zippy, but I unfortunately know nothing else about it.

We have the Maclaren Triumph and I give it a big :thumbsup2

We bought it specifically for Disneyworld for our 4 yr old b/c it holds up to 55lbs. It is lightweight and easy to push, fold up, etc..........

We also went with the Peg Pliko P3. I like that it's so much smaller than a regular stroller -- it folds up to about the size of a golf bag, and it's easy to lift.

While we haven't used it with our own baby yet, our 2 1/2 year old niece took it for a spin in our house the one day and seemed to like it!!

We also went with the Peg Perego car seat and it will work with the P3 as well.

I'm a stroller addict and I love Inglesina's. The stroller I primarily use now with my almost 3 yo DD is a Inglesina Trip. It was about the same price as a Maclaren Trimuph, but with more features. The Zippy is a great stroller that has the comfort of a full size stroller, but an umbrella fold that makes it great for travel. It is very similar to the Peg P3. The one thing I don't like about the P3 and the Zippy is the basket...not very useful.

The price that you saw for that stroller was very good, but I don't know if I would want to buy a floor model. Customers can really abuse those "testing" them out. Figure out what you want and then shop around online. Websites like albeebaby.com and babyride.com have good prices on strollers.

Actually, I was thinking abut replacing my strolller recently, and if I did I would definetly get a zippy. Inglesina has a good reputation and the Zippy has great features.
1. One hand fold
2. Full recline
3. It steers great (I put my 35 lb. 3 year old in it and could push one handed on carpet.)
4. It has a carseat adaptor bar so that you can use it as a travel system if you want. (Which makes a car seat stroller frome unecessary--yeah! Less money spent.)

If you want more stroller details, babybargainsbook.com has a very active stroller board. It like the Disboards, but for baby products.

I have been though many strollers and I like Combi. The one I have tri-folds so it is very compact, has a basket and reclines. It also has a shoulder strap that has come in handy several times (especially at Disney). They are also light weight.

I like the ones everyone else mentioned, but they were too expensive, so we went with a Graco Quattro Tour for a full size, and a PINK Jeep stroller once she got older.

The Zippy is a good stroller and gets good reviews. Another stroller you might consider is the Maclaren Techno the handles adjust very high, so it is a good choice for taller folks (at 5'2", mine is really a little tall for me on the lowest setting, I love it tho). It is one of the few Maclarens approved from birth. The P3 also gets good reviews, as you can tell from this thread. Your best bet is to check out some of the baby stores and try out as many as you can. Also, you may want to check out the Yahoo group StrollerSwap, it is a wonderful resource when trying to decide on a stroller. Just beware, it is very possible to become a stroller addict. Congratulations and have fun stroller shopping.
BTW, don't discount that you will be going out, I have a December baby as well, and by 5 weeks was going stir crazy.......

I agree with the Maclaren line of strollers. We bought a Volo for our DD to use only at Disney (it doesnt recline) and wish I had known about these years ago. It pushes like a dream and holds up to 55 pounds. My DD8 1/2 can still ride in it like there is no one in the stroller. It has high handles for my DH. We are expecting again (our 4th) and I ordered a Quest Mod for this baby. I would have gone with the Techno like the pp talked about, but I ran into a GREAT deal at WalMart a while back for an Evenflo Travel System (including car seat) for $29:banana:
I bought that since I needed the car seat anyway, so I wont need a stroller with full recline (like the Techno) for a while. Thats why I ordered the Quest instead. It has a few reclining positions and will be great when our DD is 4 or 5 months old.
I absoultely hate the Combi brand of strollers. They are cheaply made of plastic that sounds like it will crack at any time. Once my DD got to be about 2 it wouldnt push well at all. I would never buy a Combi again. I would also be leary about buying a floor model stroller. Theres no telling what people have done with it while it has been on the floor.

Well, we have 7 strollers currently. LOL And two of those are Peg Perego P3's. They are a great all around stroller...not too big and bulky and suitable for small infants on up. I have never played with a Zippy but as far as I know, they are very similar to the P3's. So if you found a great deal one, I would say go for it!

For the curious, our current stroller stable consists of:

--Peg Perego P3 in Black Sable (bought for our 2006 WDW trip when DD was 3 months old)

--Peg Perego P3 in Metallica (bought for our upcoming 2007 trip LOL)

--Peg Perego Domani (just sits in my Dining Room looking pretty :lmao: )

--Fisher Price Infant to Toddler Stroller (our most used at the moment and similar to a Bugaboo...which I would LOVE to have LOL)

--Maclaren Quest in Navy Insignia (:confused3 also just sits here unused but is a wonderful lightweight umbrella-style with a near flat recline for younger babies)

--Quinny Zapp in Lime Green (our Jetson's style stroller...LOL...just starting to be found in US stores...folds up super tiny and has a one finger push)

--Chicco 6WD (super plush for babies and huge basket but alas another that doesn't get out much anymore :rolleyes1 )
