If you have the princess dresses from the Disney stores or Parks, have you ever tried to put one in the washing machine? What happens to all the glitter on the skirts? Is it done for or does it hold up pretty well?

I know this seems like a super random question, but I'm trying to decide if I want to let my 3 year old wear one of her dresses to Ariel's Grotto when we visit.

I haven't washed any of the Disney store dresses we have but I have washed 2 of our cheapy Target Disney dresses. Inside out on extra gentle cold then hang to dry and both turned out fine.

I have also done the cheap Target dresses in a lingerie/dress bag on a normal cycle and dried in the dryer and they turn out fine. Not sure about the actual dresses with the glitter though. They might turn out okay if you wash them in a bag?

I washed our Cinderella one, which we got online from dis store. It's the one that's in the stores now. Very glittery. I had to wash it, as the one I received was treated with some kind of chemical and it stank! It actually felt kind of slimy, too. Anyway, I washed it on "hand wash" cycle. I didn't think to turn it inside-out, I should have. But the dress still has plenty of glitter on it, and it smells and looks great and came out soft and free of wrinkles. Glad I did it. Definitely wash it alone, as I'm sure it will be happy to share the glitter! Good luck!

Over the years my little girl has owned Snow Whitel, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty and now Tiana. I've washed them in the washer on cold (alone- because the glitter will spread!) and never had an issue. Plenty of glitter left and no warping of any kind. I air dry them
