Hi All -
Though we've been to WDW many times, this fall DD(10 in August) have planned a 6 night stay at POR with FDP - without my DS(14) who has Asperger's. Travelling with DS - living with DS!!! - is a challenge, though he's better in WDW than at home sometimes. There are things we have never done at Disney because of this - certain nicer restaurants, all of WS, longer lines w/o FP,stores and shopping, etc.

I am looking for any and all suggestions you might have for us in terms of meals, parks attractions we may have neglected, special things that won't break the bank...to make our "girl's trip" special. She's a delight - good conversationalist, appreciative, loves WL, some pin collecting,a bit of a tomboy.

We will likely be keeping our usual schedule of later park arrival and going right thru til closer, not being early risers. We have stayed at WL, POFQ, POR before and are hoping to get into the mansions instead of bayou this time. I'd like, for instance, to try Artist Point this time, instead of WCC, and try out CG for Wishes viewing also.

What shops might I have missed that we would enjoy - having had to eliminate them or rush thru when travelling with DS??

Many months to go but I need to make those ADR's quick based on touring plans and park hours. WWYD????

Thanks so much!!

I would definelty do CG for Wishes. I did that two years ago and am doing it again on my upcoming trip in August. YOu will get mixed reviews about CG on the boards - but I am a fan. Even if you aren't on the windows - you can go out on the balcony to view Wishes. The view is fantastic. I have seen other posts on these boards about a tea at GF - that might be fun to do with you DD. I don't think it is included in FD but I doubt the cost is that substantial - maybe someone else out there can help out? Is DD into the princesses? I know there are several character meals included in FD with them. Le Cellier (in Canada - steakhouse) is included on FD and is a favorite around here. The food gets mixed reviews but the Sci-Fi drive in gets many good comments for atmosphere - in MGM - you sit in cars and watch a movie screen- also included in FD.

I am sure you will get more suggestions from DISers with 10 yr old DDs.

Definitely try the afternoon tea at GF. I went last year w/ DD5 and my mother - we all had a great time. :thumbsup2

What about doing a manicure or some other treatment at GF?

I think that no matter what you do as long as you are giving DD lots of attention and recognizing her as a great conversationalist she will have a wonderful and special time! :sunny:

Have fun!! :cool1:

I second the tea... I can't wait until my little girl is old enough so that we can go back!.

Dh asked if I wanted to go this trip since I enjoy it so much... I don't think so with a 14month old!!!

You say that you have not been to some of the nicer restaurants...but your DD10 may not appreciate nicer restaurants! We went to Jiko and Artist Point, and my DD12 kept asking where the "regular" food was. She is beyond chicken nuggets and Mac and cheese, and we found that they did have chicken breast/Mashed potato/veggie options on the kids menu. But all the Big people food was too "wierd" for her. It was delicious to me! So if you pick a table service restaurant, keep that in mind. Like maybe the Sci-Fi diner or Crystal Palace or something like that would be good.

For Pin collecting, I suggest that you buy a lot of Disney pins off of Ebay. I got a set of 10 pins (official Disney pins) for about $3 per pin. Those we used for trading.

I know you say you are a late riser, but you can get SO much done if you get there at park opening!

There is that new Bibbidy Bobbidy Boutique in DTD where you could get her hair done. Or maybe she could get a hair wrap done at the hotel.

Rent a SeaRaycer (one of those little boats) at POR or even over at the Polynesian. They are two person boats...we went all around Seven seas lagoon and Bay lake.

Thank you for all the suggestions! CG is a definite if I can get the ADR's now....!!!

I will also look into the tea and run it by her. She thinks the Bibbity-Bobbity stuff is ridiculous.:confused3

We've done Sci-Fi and CP - she's sort of "aged out" of Pooh and our experience at CP last fall was just.."ok" - but Sci_fi might be worth another trip for a small meal - the food, as I recall, was terrible - but just for the ice cubes and the atmosphere, we will both love it!!!!

Bopper, thanks for thinking about the food issue - though she will not want to order anything "exotic", she will taste and be interested in presentation and preparation. We've gone past AP enough for her to ask if we can go there "someday", and WL is her very favorite place in the world, besides Main Street in MK.
Thanks so much for these thoughts and ideas.
