Moments of Horror

I had ridden TOT several times, enough to know what's going on. Well one time, we were "lucky" enough to sit in the front of the ride vehicle! Something about that position made me very afraid! I looked at my husband and said, "This is not a good idea!" I still get anxious everytime we ride TOT, but it wouldn't be a trip to WDW without riding it at least once.

OK, picture it...Anaheim, 1956. A 4 1/2 year old boy on his first ever trip to Disneyland. He has only recently seen Pinocchio for the first time. His parents and older sisters decide that the family should go on the Storybook Land Canal Boats, a resonable enough idea, as it is a lovely ride past minature scenes of classic Disney tales. However, to get to those lovely pastoral scenes, you get into a boat and GET SWALLOWED BY MONSTRO THE WHALE!!! :earseek:

I didn't see any of the scenes, and I'm sure no one else on our boat did either, since I was screaming and crying so loud nobody could hear the guide....

(Not to worry, I finally overcame my fear and rode the canal boats...about a month ago! :earboy2: )

it had to be the time I rode The Hulk rollercoaster at IOA. It took me 2 days to get up my nerve to ride it (I have no problem with RnR or ToT). I was fine once the thing took off; it was the two day build up that was horrible! :sad2:

ImagineMeDisney - I did the same thing with my sister!

My sister, Olivia, hated all rides after going on a Wild Mouse ride at Dorney Park. This past summer during our trip to WDW I had to lie a bit to get her on a few rides. First, I don't know what I was thinking, but I told her that Space Mountain was like Dinosaur, only it was about space and not dinosaurs. I don't even know why she believed me, but she did. She got off it and said it was okay, but didn't ride it anymore. Then I told her Mission: Space was like Star Tours. I'll admit, even I was a bit nervous because of all the warnings it gives you but I of course loved it and so did she! It's her favorite ride to date. And that was the end of getting her on rides for that trip.

This trip, however, was a totally different story. She really wanted to try Splash Mountain because I kept raving about how cute and awesome that ride is, it's my favorite Mountain. She has a big fear about going up hill because she doesn't want the train to roll back. So I told her there were very small hills in SM and she, of course, believed me. She went on it, loved it, wanted to do it again! The next day I got her on TT by telling her the only fast part was outside, which isn't a lie. She thought that was the best ride and as soon as we got off she looked at me and said "Let's go to MGM for Rock N' Roller Coaster!" Sure enough we went to MGM, sat down on RNRC, and then proceeded to ride it four more times, each time waiting for the front seat. The next day my uncle and I got her on Space Mountain again by a bet - if she went on that I'd swallow my fear and go on ToT. Like everything else she went on SM, loved it, wanted to ride it again. That night she also rode Big Thunder Mountain and loved that one the most. And then came d-day for me - I went on ToT and actually liked it. Doesn't compare to the thrill of RNRC but it's definately a good ride.

What great sisters we are ... Lying to get our younger sibs on rides! :) This summer I'm taking her to Hershey Park for her b-day to try out some new rides!

Yea its only about a 10 second ride. First time I ever thought about backing out while waiting inline. Watching the car launch before you and not making it up the lift hill and rolling back down was nerve racking. Rode it 3 more times that day.

Wheres that my Dh would LOVE it!

When I was a teenager we visited Six Flags Great America and rode a wooden roller coaster called American Eagle. As we started going up the first big hill and the train gave a lurch, the car we were in lifted up a few inches. I was convinced that our car was disconnected from the rest of the train and we were going to flip off the track. Every bump we hit we could feel the car lift. I love roller coasters and could ride them all day, but that was the only time I ever wanted to get off one immediately!QUOTE]

Funny you should mention the AMERICAN EAGLE!!! That's my HORROR story!! :earseek:

We went to Six Flags Great America for a friends birthday. I love thrill rides and so does she....so our huge group gets up to the American Eagle and we just have to get in the front! As we are going up the hill the cart is LIFTING UP INCHES!!!!!! This was not safe! I was screaming bloody murder...Im lucky I lived to tell about it!!!

LoL--I know, we're so nice, huh? :teeth:
I've always played little tricks on her, and we sit around and laugh about it now. Hey, if it wasn't for me, she never would have gotten on any of the teen-or-older rides at WDW, and she'd be having a boring time right now (My DM, DF and sis are there this week) !!!

"The green tower slowly lifts riders up 200' in the air, locks them in, holds them for a random amount of time and drops them"

This is just like "Extreme Scream" at Knott's Berry Farm. The scariest ride I've ever been on! I thought it was like the Maliboomer at Disney CA Adventure, but no, instead of shooting you up in the air and dropping you, it sloooowwwllly rose to the top. I did not feel secure at all. I felt like I was leaning forward and like I was going to fall out. I would rather rise fast and drop, then do that again ever! It was horrifying! :scared:

The ONLY reason I ride this one is so hubby dosent have to go alone. First of all, I HATE loud noises, and secondly, Im very very jumpy, so I do the entire ride after the first intro scene with my eyes closed....

Also the Screamin' Eagle at Six Flags St.Louis.

It was Fright Fest and it was pitch black and we get on this old, rickety roller coaster. Yes, the ride LIFTS off the tracks. And it is so bumpy, I thought we were going to fly off. I only go to Six Flags probably once a year and I don't know why I ride it every year--MUST remember this year not to ride it--I am always so scared during it!!

I've got one!

On our first trip to Kings Island my older sister and I seperated from my parents to go on a few rides ourselves while they hit some different ones. We passed one that I was just all enough to go on (I was like 8 at the time I think so that would make my sister 18 at the time). I'm sorry but I dont remember the ride's name and really do not care to.

The people getting out of the car we were about to get into took forever! By the time they were out of the car everyone else was already seated and had their shoulder restraints pulled down. So my sister jumps in and I do after her, go to pull my shoulder restraints down and they LOCKED about a foot in front of my chest, no joke! Then the imbeciles running the ride failed to check our car and STARTED THE RIDE! Mind you this has all happened in about a 10 second time frame. So I start screaming, my sister does, the people in line behind us do, yet the ride does not stop.

That was the worst coaster ride of my life. I'm seriously still amazed I go on rides now. I got whipped around like crazy and my sister literally held me back so I would stay under the restraints the entire ride. When they took the picture of us I am not even visible b/c I had been whipped off to the side so far! So to sum it up I wound up with no serious injuries but I did get bruised all over, and I'm talking the very deep purple bruises, along with a slightly bloody nose from hitting the bars.

So when we pulled back into the station where you get loaded in and out the people who had been in line behind us were still screaming at the workers, who now looked completely terrified. Now being a kid I didn't know of the concept of lawsuits but that seemed to be all on their mind. My sister gave them the largest earfull, grabbed me and we left right after that.

Yeah, lets just say I have never been back to that park again, never will, and never will take anyone I know there. However I do love rollercoasters. Odd yes?

I agree completely. I've probably ridden Dinosaur 10 times, but EVERY time it scares the bejeezus out of me at the end, EVERY photo shows me cowering, hunkered down and hiding!
That's the only ride that's ever scared me, otherwise I'll pretty much ride anything

Me too! I hate that ride now, but DH keeps persuading me to go on it. Last time I went on, at the photo point there was a bunch of people laughing ad pointing "look at that lady!!!". It was me cowering with fear!! V. Embarressing!!

Yes, I said Disney's TTA! I was riding on it with my 2 DS, my sister and her little girl, taking a little break from the day. About 6 cars behind us was a mom and her disabled son. Anyways, the ride was great until we got to the part where the ride starts to go into the tunnel at Space Mountain. My eyes had not adjusted to the dark yet when I hear the Lady screaming "NO! Stop the ride! Help! Help!" :scared1:

Okay, I'm thinking that the boy had fallen out of the car, or that he was stuck in the track or something, because immediatly the ride stopped and the announcer was repeating "get back into your ride vehicle". I called out to her "What's wrong? Can I help you?!? Are you alright?"
She screams back at me "I have a disabled son with me, He can not go onto Space Mountain! They told me this was not a roller coaster!" OMG, I felt a huge rush of relief! If you've been on this you know that there's a part when you're entering Space Mountain where the ride gets this burst of speed, and I guess that's what scared her. I tried to convince her that the ride was NOT a roller coaster, and that we were just going to go pass by SM.

Finally, by the time I had convinced her to sit down, the attendant had made it over to see what had happened. That was our scary experience on the infamous TTA! :wave2:
