I have a couple questions for you all. My mother had a stroke 8 yrs ago and shes paralized on the left side of her body. She can walk with a cane but only for a very short short time. She wears a leg brace and uses an electric scooter or her hover round when shes out and about with my Dad.Me,DS and my sister have been to Disney world before and we have always told my mom how great it is for people with disabilities but shes still worried. She wants to know If she is able to transfer from the couch and stuff on her own how hard are the rides going to be to get on? She doesn't want to hold anyone up but would love to go on some rides with her grandson. How do CMs do this? I know we would be helping her transfer from her scooter or wheelchair to the rides but how fast would she need to be?. She really wants to go on its a small world and will probably cry alot as being there with her grandchild would be her dream. What rides can she go on if she needs our help transfering? Is there a list somewhere where we can see if she can go on them?.We are looking to go next Sept/Oct. Thanks for all your help and I will show her all your posts so she knows Disney is full of great people and Dis boards is the place to go for questions .:)

We went in 2005 with my mom who also has a disability. We always rent a scooter for her to get around she too is unable to work for long periods of time. If you decide to stay at a Disney resort rest assured that the transportation is GREAT! On it's a small world ride she can either be sitted in the boat or wheeled onto. From what I remember we never had an issue of her being able to ride anything. Most rides have a special entrance and the best part is you all can go with her, so your not separted. Please let her know not to feel or be worried about holding anyone up. I'm sure there are some people that would feel "upset" to have to wait a few extra seconds, but the majority of the people don't mind at all. Everyone should be able to enjoy the magic of DW. I hope this helps you, you can go to allears.net for more information. :flower3:
