Mom/Daughter Spring Break trip to Disney & Sea World (UPDATE: Peru)

So we finally get to the hotel. Here are some pics of the outside of the hotel and the area around it.

Are you kidding me? Is that really the electrical wiring? That is really, really scary!:scared1: I'm almost afraid to see the inside of the rooms.

Ty and I had a mom/mom trip before Skye was born, he was about 3 or 4. It was sooo fun! It's what made me realize that the kids and I would leave the Dad at home and have great fun...and we did just that for our last three trips...next time it will be Daddy's Homecoming of sorts.

Reading on to hear about Peru!

Thanks for joining in!!

Yes, and most everything in the villages and city were wired that way!

And here's the fun part: They only have power on before 9am and after 6pm!
:confused3

I know all this sounds bad, then you add in 120 degree heat everyday, but we tried to keep our mind on the fact that we were there to help those people. It definately wasn't a Disney vacation!:rotfl:

Wow, that's insane! But what a wonderful way to look at it. We really take a lot of things for granted, so seeing things like that should make us a lot more appreciative for the things that we have.

That's definately true, it makes you thankful that we have washer/dryers, running water, bathtub to bathe in, electricity, etc.

The inside of the room:

On the right side, there's 2 single beds, sheets only, but we didn't need blankets because of the heat, and having no A/C!!

http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/nn102/***********/PERU153.jpg

On the left side, there's a little closet area, and the "blue" little room is the bathroom, with toilet, sink, and shower. The showers did not have hot water, but this would actually be OK, because after all day in the heat, that cool water was great!!!

There was the TV, and I don't think any of them were working, and the fan was the only circulation in the room. If you look up top on right hand side, there were a few vents, and between that and the fan, that's all the air we had. Keep in mind, 120 degree heat every day!

So after getting our room keys and unloading our luggage, we'd finally get to go see where we'd be helping do some work and interacting with a "host" family.

This is a little girl that was in the family of our "host family". My DD really got attached to her. Her mom let my DD take her with us when we had to go get supplies, go eat, etc.

More on next post

The day before we left from Peru, they had planned for us a boat ride on the Amazon River. Here's one of the boats:

http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/nn102/***********/PERU523.jpg

DD riding on the front/edge of the boat and she had my nerves shot the whole time. But that's just her, she loves boats/water sports!!

Passing some Peru natives working/fishing along the river:

http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/nn102/***********/PERU542.jpg

Here's our little boat again as we stopped, where there was a tower we all went up to overlook the area. It had some gorgeous views!

http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/nn102/***********/PERU564.jpg

http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/nn102/***********/PERU565.jpg

As we came down the tower, there was a nearby coconut tree, and one of the villagers cracked a hole in them so we could drink the coconut milk!

http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/nn102/***********/PERU572.jpg

So we head back to our boat and take in the wonderful views of the Amazon:

Here's my DD again trying to make me nervous again, sticking her hand down in the water! I kept telling her that a piranha was gonna bite her hand off!

http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/nn102/***********/PERU662.jpg

We had beautiful views of the sun setting as we head back:

Finishing Peru portion on next post

On our last day there, we went back to our "host" home. Some of the family we spent a lot of time with, anted to go with us to shop at the market and see us off at the airport for good-bye's.

After the market, we get to the airport to say good-bye and take pics:

We had this wonderful view during our plane trip back to home
http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/nn102/***********/PERU792.jpg

We had a wonderful time there, with many great lessons learned.
We do keep in contact with the family there, sending photos, letters, etc. Some of them do have email, etc., but they have to go into the city, and get on public computers, which they don't get a chance to do very often.

Hope you enjoyed these pictures and info on our trip to Peru.

I'm hoping to get my PTR started soon for our upcoming Disney Cruise for my Dd's 16th birthday. I'll post a link here, soon as I get it started.

I also thought I'd end this TR on some various "happenings" with us.
I'll post soon about our trip to Charleston, which included meeting up with a Diser!!!
