So I was reading up on this and then watched the video. What are your opinions? A lot people are saying she's sue happy and the kid was fine, but that she coached him to say he was hurt. It does look like the kid is happy and clapping after he met Pluto, so I don't know. I do think it's weird that the video cuts to him being upset, because if it hurt that bad why wasn't he crying immediately?

It just stinks because characters are already so limited to what they can do to interact with patrons. I can only sense a no touching rule coming soon if these cases keep coming up.

What are your thoughts?

Without being there, you can't know for sure...but with just that video to go on, I call bull. It's edited to cut off the child happily clapping and dancing around after the hug. More importantly, if my child gets hurt, I'm not going to film him on camera asking about his injuries. I'd be hugging him, checking him out, getting medical attention. That just screams set up to me.

Crackerjack writer for TMZ says "The boy begins to cry almost immediately, saying he's in pain."

Uh. no, clear edit, different location, way to go on making it sound worse that is actually seen. How 'bout you find out and report the facts instead.

I don't know...that kid's back bent quite a lot during that hug. I can see how he could have gotten hurt. And, a lot of kids have delayed pain reactions, particularly when it is muscular in nature. If pluto hugged ME like that, it would have definitely messed up my neck and back.

If you read the comments added to TMZ, there are people who claim that they know the plaintiff very well ... and they're not very impressed.

I agree, I feel like the woman rewatched the video after was all said and done, and then thought of how great it would be to stage everything.

This is the one reason I am questioning it. Kids can tend to be in the moment, so maybe he didn't say anything because he was in the presence of Pluto. I know I wouldn't want to hurt Pluto's feelings.

I know I read the comments too. There was no last name either, which is surprising. I thought I was missing out on something. Does anyone know who this woman is?

therre's already a thread on this subject.
Not on this board

I checked before I posted on this board, I only saw the link to the article on DIS, no thread.

I think the poster was referring to another board. This is the news and rumors board where news should be reported and there was no thread on this board.

It's TMZ.... is there really a need to say more? I didn't see the video but reading through the posts I can just imagine.

TMZ has ONE GOAL. Ratings, they could care less about actual news unless it boosts ratings.

This is true but it doesn't come down to who reported it first. If ABC reported this would it be taken more seriously?

In my opinion, his back is hyperextended quite a bit. It probably did hurt but I can't see it being severe enough to warrant damages being awarded. And the video is clearly edited. The mom is almost certainly looking for a lawsuit based on, as others have said, the fact she videotaped him complaining. Muscle injuries could take quite a while to be felt though so his immediate reaction while still with Pluto doesn't mean much. So yeah, it probably hurt but I'm thinking it's being played up by mom. Anyone with kids knows if you make a big deal out of a minor fall or injury, the kid will play along for attention.

I'm sure I heard somewhere that should Disney agree a settlement in cases like this, there is generally a no-return clause, meaning that a condition of accepting the damages is that the plaintiff agrees not to return to Disney in the future. I'm pretty sure this is deliberately included to reduce fictional or exaggerated claims.

Either way poor Pluto is bound to be in the dog house! Sorry couldn't resist!

That is soooo... coached...if my son was hurting I would not be worrying about the video and the statement.......The sad part is that poor Pluto will likely be disciplined or even fired for a greedy Mom!
