The feral cat that lives outside had babies. We caught all of them. The rescue place says the kittens are about 7 to 8 weeks. I think they are more 6 to 7 weeks. Anyway, the mom cat just got fixed a few days ago. We released her back in the yard. Her milk glands are very swollen and it has been at least a week that any of the kittens nursed off her. How long until the milk dries up. Should I be concerned. It is killing me because she goes around the house constantly crying for her babies.

It's been awhile since I have dealt with mother cats. I think it takes about a week or two for the milk to dry up. The swelling is normal. When my family dealt with mother cats and kittens it use to vary some mothers would forget about their babies within a day or two others would cry for them for two weeks. Keep monitoring the mother's behavior. You did a good thing by trapping the kittens at 6 weeks because they can be tamed and rehabed for adoption.

Aw ... hugs to momma kitty . No advise except to say that I think you did everything right. The babies will find a home and you returned the feral cat to her territory but fixed so she can't have more babies.

Awww, poor cat. We just recently got two kittens. I felt so guilty when we went to pick them up. The Mom cat just sat there, trusting us playing with her kitties and then we left with them. This Mom was a "found" cat who had been outdoors for a while. Her owners had decided to keep one of her six kitties so she will be okay. Both Mom and her other kitten as well as our two, are all going to be fixed.

Our previous cats were all born outside in the lane where there are a few strays.

Thanks for helping the Momma cat out and taking such good care of her...
