Moleskin vs. Bandaid Friction Block

I agree that you will get a lot of suggestions! Everyone has different feet and different issues.

I don't get blisters in my day to day life, but I get them on the bottom of my feet when I go to Disney. At least, I used to. What I started doing was getting the cloth adhesive tape (the kind that is sort of semi-shiny on the back) and put the tape anywhere on my feet that I used to get a blister. I basically cover the entire ball of the foot and halfway down the outside edge as well. The shiny tape sticks to the foot and provides a slick surface for the sock to slide against. I haven't had any blisters since. It's thinner than the moleskin, and doesn't have the gauze pad (that doesn't stick) that the bandaids do.

I do wear socks and broken in walking shoes at Disney. I wouldn't attempt any kind of sandal or flip flop for anything more than a walk from the room to the pool because I need the extra arch support.

Throwing my 2cents onto the heap. First, I suggest that whatever you are going to wear at Disney you wear for your daily walks for several weeks ahead of time to ensure they will work. Second, keeping feet dry is key. Non-cotton socks help, and so does stick deodorant rubbed between and around toes and so on. If you wear sneakers, make sure they are very breathable. My Nikes and Asics have mesh panels through which I can feel cool breezes, even when wearing socks. They're far more breathable than canvas or leather sneakers.

Has anyone had great results with either preventing blisters on the bottoms of feet?

Every time we go to Disney, no matter which shoes I wear, I end up with blisters and calluses on the bottoms of my feet. To date, I have been treating them after they form with blister bandages and padded foam rings.

Heading back in a month and want to take a pro active approach this time. My plan is to wear Birkenstocks the whole time since this is my normal daily footwear. I hope to not be limping around Disney, which is usually the case by Day 2.

I would use both if I thought moleskin would stick properly after applying friction block. Has anyone ever tried this?

I wore Birkenstocks and used Band-Aid Friction Block on our most recent trip and my feet have never been happier at Disney. I also put lotion on my feet after my shower every night. I took some Moleskin and never needed it. :)

Several years ago I had to rent an ecv after I ripped the whole layer off of my feet. That was what led me to find a way to deal. There was a spray blister prevention that I bought at the Walgreens down there that I loved but this year they didn't have it. So I had to improvise. That was what led me to the liquid bandage. I just reapplied after my shower. It couldn't slip or wad like moleskin.

I also have a pair of Chaco's that are awesome. I discovered them when I went to an outdoor store. Also, not sure if it has been mentioned but all tennis shoes are not equal. I go to a real running shoe store not the local mall or sports store. They have me walk and then make suggestions accordingly. They actually had some great suggestions for my work out shoes. I would haves picked a Nike not Asics. I am very happy with my work out shoe.

This is a lot of shoe talk maybe Disney needs moving side walks. Lol

I use to live in Crocs, wore then to Disney and nearly died my feet hurt so badly. What I finally figured out was that because I have narrowish feet my feet move around in Crocs and sandals that are not firmly attached to my feet. This movement is on the ball of my foot and I get a blister. If I wear tennis shoes and socks (love Wright Socks) no blister because the tennis shoe does not allow my foot to move around on the footbed. Even if I wore socks with my Crocs (ugly I know) I got a blister. So not more Crocs or sandals in the parks for me.

I've seen a lot of talk about body glide and moleskin and now this bandaid stuff...

I never normally get blisters from my flip flops (I usually live all summer in he cheapie Old Navy ones). But on the rate occasion I have done a lot of walking in hen, I have started to blister where the plastic band rubs the inside edge near the top of my foot. I won't be wearing those on my trip, but I want to be prepared for a similar situation just in case. Anyway, my question is.. which of those products would work best without making things slippery? I have used lotion under my flip flop straps before and it works well but makes walking harder because I slid a little in the shoe when I walked.

Just FYI, Mole skin is Never applied directly to the skin!

It is to be used when you feel a hot spot coming on and you apply it to the shoe/sandal.

Cut a piece just a bit bigger then the hot spot/or blister if you don't get it in time and apply directly accross on the shoe.

Hope this helps.:cheer2:

REALLY???
I have been applying moleskin directly to my feet for *years* with great results! I wrap my last two toes (individually) with small strips that I cut and then slap a bigger piece on the bottoms of my feet, sometimes in the arch area or in the ball of my foot area. I have never had a problem with it wadding up, and its easy to remove after a shower or swim.

I also wear the socks with the support in the middle as I find them o be the best for me.

The secret is two pair of socks and white athletic cloth tape. The tape can be stuck directly on skin or over blisters and is very thin, so it's more comfortable than moleskin. And it's sweat resistant, so it will stay put. And it's cheaper than moleskin, so if you need to re tape or replace it, no big deal.
