I have a package of moleskin ready for our trip...upon reading the package I am unclear on whether it can be applied directly to a blister or is it just for hot spots, before the blister starts? It seems like it might be painful to put a piece of moleskin right on top of a fresh blister. Someone recommended a type of blister relief bandage I think I will pick up too just in case. Anyway, I am hoping for no blisters as we are all bringing nice comfy shoes! So lets talk blisters shall we? Lovely.

It's suppose to be put on spots that you are prone to get blisters, before you get them.

I must admit, though, that I did put it on a spot that had the beginnings of a blister and it actually helped.

But that was years ago. I no longer need moleskins. I now avoid blisters by wearing Teva Pretty Rugged (leather) sandals and before I put my sandals on, I put Bodyglide on the bottom of my feet where I tend to get blisters. I haven't gotten a blister in the last 5 trips. Bodyglide prevents chafing/blisters.

Good luck!

I use it for both...the hot spots and any blisters that do happen.

I haven't found the blister bandages to be helpful once a blister happens, at least not for me.

Changing socks half way through the day helps me, and changing my sneakers too if I can (if I go back to the room). On my last trip, in January, I was blister-free! :cool1:

i haven't tried the body glide ( not sure where to get it ) but i have put the moleskin directly on the blistered area. To me it seemed kinda moot to put it around the blister since the area where the blister is is the area that is rubbing. Not the area around it. I also left it on for as long as it would last. Even in the shower. It helped alot and it wasn't uncomfortable either. Don't forget to take a pair of scissors for cutting the moleskin to size. Nail clippers don't work very well......:rotfl:

I have read somewhere on the DIS that someone had applied deoderant ( solid ) to the bottom of their feet and blister areas.

I love moleskin! I put it directly on the blister and it actually makes it feel soo much better, my DD7 also loves it.

Just a cute little story...I was putting some on my daughter at the begining of a brownie meeting and one of the little girls looked at me funny and said that isn't how you are supposed to do it, my dad puts it on my shoe not my skin. I just said Oh I never thought of that! I don't know how comfortable that would be though.

So yes it works wonders and I cut up little pieces in various sizes and put in my mini 1st aid kit because I thought I wouldn't be able to take mini scissors in but they didn't even check that far into my back last time so I don't think it would be an issue if you brought a little pair of sewing scissors.

Good luck!
