Mojito Monkey Mama's 2 cont'd

Shhhhhh..... Don't tell, I just booked F&W (10/22-10/27)  Had DVC ressies but not air. Last minute booked Airtran w/coupon:woohoo: Our DS#1is gonna flip, the kid is an adventurous eater! He is going to be so pumped. What a great Mother's Day present. I love making my kids happy. DS#1 told me late tonight I forgot to call Miss Kelli, wish her a happy day. He is just the best kid, now if he could only get along with his brother:lmao:
Hope you all had the the most wonderful day-Thanks for listening:cutie:

Last minute booked Airtran w/coupon:woohoo:
I booked my little sister's flights up here in June on Airtran over the weekend too. I booked the flights as two different one way transactions to use the coupons twice. I wasn't sure that it would give me $25 off each way, so I just went through it all twice.
Congrats on the F&W trip, I'm so jealous.

I also booked my flight home for the September trip. I got the Sunday 7:30PM flight home that lands here at 9:20. DH will just have to get over it. Thanks for your advice & input on selecting a time. The extra time during the day on Sunday totally opens up time to do Animal Kingdom and maybe a bit more time at DTD. We'll see since I know that weekends are more crowded than the Wednesday & Thursday that we'll be there.

I've also been really looking into our Spring trip and renting DVC points. Bonnie has been a super big help, so thanks for that. Although I read on a post tonight about the animals being removed from one part of the savannah from early January until April 15, 2009. (due to construction) I'd really hate to pay that much for a room and not be able to see a single animal. What's an early planning girl to do?

Ladies, this September trip is going to be fabulous!! One might even call it a Great Ape Escape!

That's wonderful! Are you back yet? How is she? How was the trip?

Wow what a long trip but it was well worth it. She is beatiful and we also brought back another dog from the track and took him to the adoption agency that we belong to. The dogs did wonderful no problem with them at all. I cried like a little girl when I saw her for the first time and when Luca got to see her he actually remembered her you should have seen it it was so amazing how sweet they were togther. Aw heck I am crying now remembering it!

So is she going to be OK? I know you said she was injured.

Sorry if these are too big!!

Happy Belated Mother's Day Everyone!!!!

No Light Vallie wasn't hurt at all the Trainer told me when we got there Sat. night that she had to tell the Owner a reason as to why she needed to take her off the track so she said that she pulled a muscle but Vallie is doing wonderful now on the other hand Jilly are other female is being nasty so she has to wear a muzzle for a while.

So Vallie is the tan colored dog, the and spotted one is the dog you brought back for adoption?

Jilly is one of your current greyhounds, and she doesn't like Vallie?

You're neighbors are going to start referring to you as the "crazy dog lady"! :rotfl2:

I'm confused. If she wasn't hurt, why did she pull her off the track? What would the reason be? Was No Light Vallie already your dog or do you accept them after they retire? Now I'm all confused.

Oh and I can't see the pics here at work so I'll look as soon as I get home.

They look soooo skinny! Are they considered malnurished??

Yeah...like Rie said, if she wasn't hurt....how come they got rid of her??? :confused3

Vallie is the white one and the Tan or fawn colored is Million (male)

Yes Jill was are first female.

in the picture Light Vallie is the one on the left and Million on the right

Mom2evie

its a complicated line of events that has to happen to get dogs off the track.

1. the dogs belong to an owner who leases them to the kennels/trainers

2. the owners still make all the money but when the dogs continually fail to move up and stay in the upper class

3. the dogs when finished normally go up for adoption or move to other states to other tracks or like or adoption agency.

but in this case I had been in talks with the kennels owner who "rented Light Vallie" fromt he owner and the only way to get her from him perm. was to tell him that she had pulled a muscle so that gave them a good reason to retire her.

Like I said we had been in talks with them to get her as soon as she was done.

I hope that answered your questions.

Yeah...like Rie said, if she wasn't hurt....how come they got rid of her??? :confused3

no not malnurished that is the way greyhounds look they are all muscle she is actually 57 1/2 pounds and solid too.

The kennel who had her knew how badly I wanted her and she just didn't have it in her to run anymore so like I said they have to either come up with a reason or the dog actually has to get hurt.

Ok, so I think I've got it....

Because she wasn't placing high enough in her races, and the trainer knew you wanted her...they called you to come and get her, because "she hurt herself"!

Now are you going to "fatten" them up a bit, you can see Millions spine and ribs in the picture...poor puppy!

I do think it's great that you've adopted these greyhounds Nancy, those dogs all deserve great homes once they've been retired!

Peanut is part greyhound part chesapeake bay. When she starts running...it's all over, she's off! Shortly after we got her, she got loose and took off, I was like oh crap we're never going to be able to catch her....she was a good girl though, and came back to us as soon as she saw us!

Yes she will be fattened up a bit we only have her not Million he went to the our kennel to be adopted out YEAH!! he is a sweetheart.

Light Vallie will be putting some weight on but not to much if they put to much on it is to hard on them.

They all have had a hard life and they all deserve a great home as in all homeless animals.

I remember you telling me about that I am just glad nothing bad happened.

Since I am fat (far less than I used to be) I might get away with saying this. :) Fat is more an indicator of malnourishment than skinny. The foods that make one fat are not very nourishing. My son, who had Celiac Disease, had a big round belly and you find the same on those poor African babies who are starving to death.

Did everyone have a great Mother's Day? I had an interesting, although not bad, one myself.

How I would love to be able to fly my grandkids down for a few days while I am at DW. The older one is afraid of flying and I do not know that I would feel comfortable with the younger one flying alone. Wish his mom would join him, that would be fun, I think. I just have to content myself with 'adopting' a few kids here and there on my trips.

Back to work for me. I am so disappointed that Cirie did not win Survivior last night but I was so glad that James won some money. That man is made for more than digging graves. I like him, in a nice way. Don't be getting ideas, I have none. :rotfl2:

How was her first night with you guys, did she sleep ok...did you have to crate her? The poor girl was probably scared! :scared: We crated Peanut for about a week, then left the door open on it for week....then we found her curled up on our couch one morning! She knows the couch is for us, she has her dog bed. It's funny though, when she's mad at us (if we leave her inside when we go outside)the first thing she'll do is go and jump on the couch! It's like her way of saying "sc**w you! :rotfl2:

Awe, welcome back with your beautiful new furbaby! She is so pretty. Will you change her name or keep the one she has? She is a real beauty and how blessed you both are to have found one another!

I'm looking forward to more photos of her settling in with the family. :)

No she stayed in her crate just because Jilly can't be trusted yet and Light vallie (with cats yet not sure) but so far so good. Just now to get Jilly in line and Oh luca bit me this morning so he is in lockdown until mike gets home (oh I stayed home this morning too).

OOOoohhh! Thanks Wic, I get it now. Pardon the blonde in the room! Nancy, I'm so proud of you for taking in these greyhounds. Our backyard is large, by our city's standards, but not large enough for a greyhound to be happy. I'm so happy there are people like you to give these beautiful animals a home after they've "fulfulled their usefulness" to their racer/owners. Excellent job, my friend.

Wic, we have a lab currently and she's a bit sweet baby. I'd really love for our next dog to be a Chessie but I'm not sure that DH will let me spend that kind of money on a dog. He'd much prefer to rescue one from a shelter or take in a stray. I can't say that I blame him, both of our girls were unwanted by their families and they'be been better dogs than any people deserve. My daughter dotes on them as if they were her little sisters. It's wonderful to watch how well she takes care of them.

thank you so much for the welcome back. Not sure if we will change her "legends" name she seems to know it but time will tell us.
