Mojave Desert Preserve roads

Coming to CA in a few weeks via Las Vegas, driving. We were planning to drive through the Mojave National Preserve on our way from LV to Joshua Tree National Park (we're National Park Service geeks!) but are concerned about road conditions in the Preserve because of the heavy monsoons in August. Has anyone visited MNP recently? Are the roads back to normal? TIA for any information or advice you good people can provide.
