I have reservation and only want to switch the first 2 days to a different resort. If I go into the reservation and modify the first 2 days, will it cancel the remaining days of the 1st reservation? (I don't have enough points to book the 2nd resort and not sure if I want to take the chance of cancelling 2 days and losing the days)

To do that requires you to first modify the reservation you have to remove two days, and then make a new reservation for those two days at the second resort. There can be a risk that between the time you do the modification to making the new separate reservation, the room at the second resort you want could fill via others making reservations. You could also thereafter find that those two days are no longer available in relation to your first resort and thus you cannot get hem back. As a result if one is considering doing a split stay, it is best to make two separate reservations at your home resort 11-months out, one of which is for the time you want to switch. Then, at 7 months out you need only modify one of the reservations and cannot lose it while attempting the modification, meaning if the other resort reservation turns out not to be available, you can just have MS combined the two home resort reservations after 7-months out.

Thanks- that is what I figured. (I'm just trying to salvage some 2019 points in case I need to cancel a November reservation)

Do you have enough to book one night before canceling? The f you do, book the first night with new points, modify the current to drop that, then modify the new one with the 2nd night and drop from original.

While still a risk, it is a little less of one..but you could then end up with one night elsewhere

No points left for the year and of course I just banked them last week (Dec UY) to make a February reservation. Your idea is good! That would work with less risk. (Of course the new reservation has been available all morning- I just keep staring at it afraid to make the move!

Thanks again for the advice. Was able to make the changes!
