Modifying reservation at 7 months

I currently have a reservation for a studio at Disneyland Hotel and I want to modify to a 1 bedroom at VGC for slightly different dates. Is the better strategy to:

1. Wait to hit “check availability“ right at 8:00am, then hit continue if it is available
or
2. Hit “check availability“ before 8:00 but wait to hit continue until right at 8:00am?

it seems like #2 would be smarter, unless the system doesn’t allow it?

I used to be able to number #2. It no longer works for me. I get the "you searched too early" error. You can test it anytime yourself, do the search before 8 and then hit continue after 8. Just do not follow through with the reservation. You can try at the 11 month window with home resort points or the 7 month with another resort. Either way, I get the error on all devices, browser, and privacy settings I have tried. That said - availability is gone QUICK, so I fear some folks have found a combination that works with option #1 or have scripts executing at 8AM?

This is exactly what I was wondering about. Maybe the system won’t allow it since availability was checked and thus the process started before 8:00? Tomorrow is my day so I unfortunately cannot test it out ahead of time. I guess I’ll stick with #1 and hope for the best. At least I have a room somewhere!

I too can no longer get option #2 to work.
