Modifying non-home resort reservation; locked contract?

Hi all,

When booking a night at the Polynesian for our December trip, I booked at 7 months using my BRV contract. I wanted to switch out which points were being used for it, but when I went online to modify the reservation, the BRV contract was showing with the "lock" and a message stated that I had to use that contract for this booking. Does anyone know why that is, considering it wasn't made with the 11-month home advantage?

I will likely try to call Member Services at some point when the call lines are less insane, but thought I'd check to see if anywhere here has encountered this before. Thank you!

I’m not sure what the lock is, but I tried modifying a reservation yesterday online, and it noted that I had to call them to make any modifications. I’d definitely give them a call and ask. Wait times have not been that bad. (I waited a half hour today, 20 minutes yesterday) Good luck!

Normally it locks when you book for home resort so you may need to call.

That lock feature happened to me too! It was a Poly reservation and I don’t own at Poly so I knew it was some sort of glitch. However we cancelled the whole thing, too soon for us to go to WDW.

The only time I get locked contracts is when I book at the 11 month window. I always assume this keeps you from reallocating you’re points at the 7 month window, which makes sense. When I book at the 7 month window my contracts don’t lock and I can switch point usage around only at the 7 month window reservations.

Thanks! I don't own at Poly, so this was a 7 month reservation. But for some reason my BRV contract - which I initially used - was locked and doing the modify reservation did not allow me to switch reservations. I was able to get around it because this morning Poly Lake View opened, and I just cancelled the old reservation and booked a new, but I was super confused why this was happening.

I've had that happen with 7 month bookings now and then. Haven't really figured out what triggers the lock as it doesn't always happen. I've also had it not be locked and then modified and had it locked to a contract after that but again, it doesn't always happen.
