Modifying a ressie, does it cancel it all?

I currently have ressies for Dec 30th- Jan 6th at AKV and at SSR. For my wife and I and my parents. I am going to try and get the SSR changed to AKV on June 6th, but my question is. Can I take a couple of days off later if my parents decide they don't want to go that long or will it mess with the whole reservation? Thanks very much.

If you simply shorten a reservation, basically freeing up some days, it will not affect the overall reservation.

If you want to change dates, or change resorts, or change room type, etc., then these all would result in a cancellation and brand new reservation, which is what you'll be doing when you call on Jun 6th to change the SSR reservation to AKV. You can then shorten it later if desired.

Also keep in mind, once you check-in, all points for the reservation are considered used. In other words if your parents decide to leave early, you don't get any points back.

And if you shorten it before check-in, but less than 31 days ahead, then points will go into holding and will have special restrictions.

Well this is what we are thinking. My parents would like to try BWV so I was thinking that I could try and get that for 4 nights Jan 2nd-5th and get AKV for Dec30-2nd. But I am not sure if they will want to go for sure over new years. They like 4 or 5 night stays.

So can I cancel my AKV for the Jan 2nd-5th and if avaliable move to BWV with them? But still have Dec 30,31 and jan 1st at AKV.

I agree that taking days off either end is easy and can be automatic. To split a reservation is a little more tricky and may or may not be allowed.
