Modifying a reservation at 7 months/Split Stay?

DVC newbie here... I'll be booking my home resort (BLT) for the week before Easter. However, at the 7 month mark, I would like to change a few of those nights to BC or BW (if available, I know it will be difficult!). I've researched and learned about the two browser method at the 7 month mark, but will this work for modifying the reservation? Essentially I'll want to keep 3-4 days of my BLT stay and change the rest to another resort. TIA!

You should make two separate BLT reservations at 11 months out, one for the time you will defnitely stay in BLT and the other for the time you want to switch. Do not have Member Services link or merge those reservations before 7 months out. At 7 months, you can then use the two browser method on the one reservaiton to reserve another resort. If you decide instead to keep all nights with BLT, then just contact MS and have it merge the reservations.
