I think she was probably selling them to get her friend outfits she did like, and what's wrong with that? Nothing. It sounds to me like she is just being a good friend. If she is taking advantage, that's a shame, but I highly doubt it. Anyone who loves disney that much would not risk her rep on the boards by conning people.
And any agencies that help don't help enough. Trust me, I've been poor before. They give you only a couple things, if they give you anything at all. They put you through a bunch of crap to give you the little they do give you and then they give you a hard time for asking and treat you like a reject. I think her and her friend probably both know this, so she decided to reach out to the people she knew were caring, in hopes of giving her friend some real help. Now, because of a few negative peopple, she can't even trust the people here. And I bet the reason she hasn't responded back is that everyone's tearing her down for doing a good deed. Who wants to respond to negativity?

That could be...and I even suggested that two pages back:

That may be true. And I think it was the other thread where I offered that as being a possiblity. But when someone says "but you're selling them on ebay" then come back and say "she didn't care for them and we knew we could make about $15 on them and that would go a long way at a garage sale." Instead she just said "she doesn't like them" and "she's used to getting what she wants" which makes her "friend" sound very selfish and non-appreciative of gifts.

Just my take on it. If the story is true, then Tigger113 has done a less than stellar job of communicating with us and keeping us updated on why things are being done.

She only considers them personal attacks, IMHO, b/c she has no truthful answer to the questions. If the story were 100% on the up and up, she should communicate with us.

The fact that she got defensive is another red flag for me.

so I guess the best bet would be for her to come back to the DIS and explain herself. Her story sounds fishy. If she can explain the oddities of it and why she is doing what she is (selling new baby clothes on ebay and asking for free stuff, or getting free coupons on the DIS and selling them on ebay) then I think, as a whole, the DIS members would be very forgiving of her. But the fact is, she came on with this story, got defensive when she was called on some oddiites of it, whined to the moderators to close the threads (which they did for one of them) and then vanished. Thus raising MORE red flags.

Can you explain why the OP said Freecycle would be a good idea but there were none in her area (an hour away) but when you do a search on Freecycle you can see that not only is there one in her town, but it's a very active one?

And if you think that people who "love Disney" wouldn't con people, all I can say is is I find that to be a very, very naive comment. As far as her rep goes, there's nothing stopping her from posting and then signing up as someone else and no one will be any the wiser.

Denial ain't just a river in Egypt, honey

And if scamming the good people of the DIS is a good deed, then surround me with sinners because I don't want to be part of that kind of good deeds

I am not in denial. I just believe in helping people. If you don't want to help her, then don't help her. Just don't put down those that do and don't put her down for asking for help. Since when is asking for someone's help scamming them? She's not forcing anyone to help. And if she sells the stuff she receives, so what? Maybe she is just trying to get money for her friend to buy other things she needed and didn't receive. Why does there always have to be someone being critical about everything? And if she made more than one post and responded to giveaways, maybe she was looking for those giveaways to either give her friend or sell to get her friend something new. Before you judge someone, know ALL the facts. Just going by the small amount of information you see here, it could go either way, so why defame someone when you don't even know for sure it's a scam. Yes, it's possible, but if you don't know it's a fact, it's not very nice to say it is.

I am not saying you're not a nice person, because you very well may be very nice, but she could have been asking for legitimate help and now she can't get it.

I went over her posts here on the Dis and found that she has participated in quite a few exchanges and that she has started a couple--Lots of people do the exchanges so nothing wrong there!

And in the free exchanges she has requested items but I DID NOT find them on her ebay listings!

I don't know where she lives so I have no say on the free cycle.

I think that what has been posted is not definitive proof of any wrong doing on the part of the OP

Maybe there is a friend or the OP is the friend.
Either way we sit here and talk of the generosity of the DIS people and if it was a scam shame on the OP BUT lets have some generosity in our sharing of good wishes for whatever the situation may be and stop trying to add info which may not be true to make the OP look worse in others eyes!

JMHO

I hope this does not make people here on the Dis stop being the kind and wonderful people that they are. I have asked here for help in getting a pressed penny for my nephew (lost his favorite at the airport ) no problem, within a week we had a new one. My DD loved Bear in the Big Blue House I posted here and was able to buy her some wonderful stuff from another wonderful Diser. DS loves Gullah Gullah island. Posted here in a very kind Diser sent me a tape of taped shows that her children didnt need anymore. I also mentioned here that I was looking to buy a used Talking Mickey for my DS to take with us to the parks . The request was answered that same day. I always trust people here. I would rather buy something here than from someone on Ebay or better yet be directed from someone here to their Ebay auction that way we both are able to help each other. I trust people here. I am sad if the OP is using the kind people here. I hope this does not change peoples minds when they help out a fellow Diser.

JMHO - Iif you look at the links that where posted for the baby clothing you can see where she lives so you can figure out the Freecycle thing yourself or just to be in denial.

And Mommy2Lots....you've been registered here for a month and have 30 posts, you have not seen all of the good and all of the bad the DIS has to offer.

If you feel so strongly about this situation, send the OP tons of stuff - quite frankly, it's no skin off my back. I would just encourage others to be careful about who they wish to be generous with.

Those outfits listed on ebay are very nice and I'm sure any "desperate" mother would be thrilled to have them. I've also never heard of a needy person saying "Oh btw make sure that whatever you scrounge up for me is Disney related"

She was looking for coupons for STarbucks. She sells them on ebay.

Anyone else wondering if this new Mommy2Lots is the OP with a new name? I mean, new member this month, only one who isn't a bit skeptical... Just saying
