How about a sticky at the top of the DVC planning board for non-members to ask questions about renting points, DVC resorts, etc? There are so many of them lately. Then we wouldn't keep getting the same questions over and over. If a new one showed up, it could be added to the thread, just like the occupancy questions.

Great idea! It would make it easier for those coming here for that kind of help, and it would be easier for us too.

I agree. We can develope a rental guide (over time) that will benefit the renters and the owners, and reduce bandwidth usage on redundent topics!

Just FYI, we've been looking at the layout of the DVC boards for the last couple of months, and have some plans for a few things. Nothing has been finalized yet, but hopefully the things we're looking at will make the DVC boards easier to use.

I think a new board for Rent/Trade Discussions would be great

I know people say it is a supply/demand issue with renting, but there sure are alot of questions regarding renting lately, so demand must be increasing.

We all want to be as helpful as possible, but previous renters with experience can be just as helpful as DVC members for alot of questions, and right now their input is limited.

On the resort forum, people keep advising posters to look into renting points because it is so much cheaper than even using discounts.

Owners are giving the best discounts out there I guess.

I agree and personally I think that renting points is really "Disney's Best Kept Secret".
Although it certainly seems that word is indeed getting out!

Count me in on getting the renters their own board. I agree with one of the other posters too that the cheap rentals are making our DVC resorts too cheap. I think that's why we have maintenance problems. If they aren't paying any more than the All Stars and the sure aren't paying dues, they don't care. They are probably the ones stirring the biggest stink when they don't get their speical requests too.

There will not be a new board just for renters. I can tell you that right now. However it may be possible to have a 'sticky' FAQ type Q&A thread dedicated to renting.

Isn't there already a rental sticky on the R&T board? However, a sticky reminding all DISers of the rack rates for the different DVC accomodations might be a good thing.

I think a sticky would only be effective in this case if it allowed discussion on it. I was thinking more along the lines of the occupancy thread that gets all requests added to it.
