To all of you WDW travellers out there - I am in the process of planning my summer vacation and am considering one of the WDW Moderate Resorts for lodging. Can anyone provide feedback (good or bad) on any of the following places: Port Orleans - Riverside, Caribbean Beach, and Coronado Springs? Or if someone knows of a website that compares the three - I would love to know about it.
Thanks in advance for your help!

I suggest you do a search right here on the DIS boards. This has been discussed quite a few times recently.

What are you looking for in a resort and maybe folks here can give you some ideas?

Hi,

Mom & I have stayed @ CBR (once) & POR (twice!) We love POR the best. Its peaceful & the rooms are comfortable. We also like POR for the restruant, breakfast! Really good!!!!! CBR was nice too but we'd rather stay @ POR. Good Luck!!!

I asked this same question a month ago, the unanimous response was POR, however most said "you can't go wrong with any of them".

Thank you all for your quick responses....
2minny - a follow-up question for you....was there are preference for Riverside or the Frech Quarter - or were both popular?

DH and I stayed at CBR last summer and loved it! The theming, landscaping, and colors were wonderful. We really enjoyed the main pool and the quiet pools, thought the food court was pretty good (as good as any other food court), were pleasantly surprised by Shutters - the sit down restaurant, and thought the bus transportation was great - never longer than a 10 minute wait and we had a seat every time!

My sister and I are going to try POFQ this Christmas. We have heard so many great things about it and it was just refurbished, so the rooms should be nice.

I agree with everybody else that all of the moderates are nice, it's just a matter of the theming that you enjoy the most! have a great time!

I've stayed at all the moderates and don't feel one is better than the other. Just depends what theme you like better. The biggest difference I can think of is POFQ doesn't have a sit down restaurant. That may or may not matter to you.

Coronado Springs is quite nice, particularly if you like Mexican/American Southwest art/architecture. The grounds are very nice, and particularly enchanting at night. Do request a lake view room though - if I recall, the opposite sides of each building face a parking lot.

I've posted this on other boards, but I think CS has a bit more of an adult feel to it, probably owing to it also being a convention hotel. Nonetheless, the pool, landscaping, health club, and food court are very nice. Not as many kids (or characters) on the loose as some of the other resorts.

There was a sit-down restaurant (sorry, can't recall the name), which had a breakfast buffet. The food was good, but pricey.

One major advantage to CS is the bus transportation. They run frequently, do not stop at other resorts, and are hardly ever busy (probably since most guests are off at a convention).

I've never stayed at the others, so I can't comment on those.

CSR! I am biased to this one and I haven't stayed at the others - but CSR is the underdog and I need to show support for my team!

Here's what I posted in another thread...

"POR definitely has a large fan base, so there is lots to read about it.

All the mods are good for different reasons.

I have stayed at CSR twice so will comment on that. CSR is the biggest mod and some people don't like that, it seems too big, I like it because I never feel confined! I also don't feel that walking to El Centro from anywhere at CSR is too long, but if you've got youngun's, it might be a hike, so request a room closer to El Centro.

CSR has a lot of recreation, sand volleball court, large pool plus three quiet pools, arcade, health spa, poolside bar and snacks, bike rentals, and more. It's a good resort to just hang out at for an off-day from the parks.

It's not close to anything (IMHO). You can't walk to Epcot, there's no boat to MGM, so you rely on WDW busses - but there are a lot of them and they are a dedicated route - meaning you dohn't stop anywhere else!

It has a business convention center - good and bad. More "suits" walking around, less kids (still kid friendly). They have suites there too (only mod with suites).

I love the southwest theme! It just relaxes me the instant I get there! Then again, I'm from the mid-atlanic, not New Mexico! If I lived in the southwest, the theme might seem a little boring.

Figure out what you want in a resort and look at all of them - I can't wait to stay at the others, but CSR has a special place in my heart."

Take a good look before you decide, but you will LOVE any of them!

CSR is amazing!!! Great pool, food, and the resort itself is very upscale. You would never know you are at a "moderate" hotel.

:D

I've stayed at the CBR and the CSR. I'd choose the CSR first. Both are great resorts, but the CSR has more variety in it's theming. The main pool is cool and the entire resort is beautiful to walk around at night (very romantic). Be sure to check out Buzz2001's website for the CSR. He hasn't posted here, yet, but I'm sure he will. His website has a lot of pics and info. Have a great time.
