Moderate -vs- Deluxe and getting around

OK - so I am so lost. I haven't been to WDW since I was a kid, and now we are going in December for our 1 year anniversary. Each day the plans change, and I am desparate for advice. We only have 4 1/2 days and I am trying to decide between CR or PO-FQ. We want to be close to MK - b/c we will spend most of the time there, but we plan to spend evenings dancing the night away at DTD.

I currently have reservations at CR - but in the garden wings. But with everything I've read on this site about what a hike it is to the monorail, I am *quite* concerned. What kind of distance are you talking about - assuming we get stuck in the worst room in the South wing? And what are the walking distances to the MK from the tower, North, and South wings? Is it bad enough we should pay more for a tower room?

Finally, does anyone have any info on getting home late at night from DTD? About how long is the bus ride home? Would it make more sense to stay in that area?

Sorry to ramble, but this is the 4th time I changed hotels in the last 2 weeks and I am *SO* confused.

Please if anyone can help it would be *greatly* appreciated!

Thanks!
Kelley

I cant answer specifically about the contemp. however, having been there, I can't imagine its a t4errible hike from any point to any point. I also can't imagine that the bus ride is overly long either.

If you are considering a different resort here are some things to keep in mind: whats the probability that your next trip with still be without kids? My choice of where to stay with kids would be very different than without. with kids you might want more room, so stay at a moderate this time. or the opposite might hold true, if more of your travel budget is going to the room this time than maybe you want the deluxe now. If you have sons, you will probably give serious consideration to the contemp then because the train runs through it. Without kids, I'd opt for the grand floridian, if budget isnt a concern, or the port orleans riverside, if it is.

Assuming you walk at a normal place and don't have any impediments along the way, it can't take more than three minutes (maybe less) to get to the monorail platform.

I've stayed at both places you are considering and we much more enjoyed our CR stay. We were in a tower, but I can't imagine the walk from the wings to the monorail is more than a few minutes longer. Also you can walk to MK in less than 10 minutes. We would walk to the MK and take the mono home. It's quicker to walk there due to the loop the monorail takes. You can't beat the convenience, size of rooms or price of CR. The rooms are much bigger and the king size beds are wonderful. Have fun whatever you decide.

P.S. I almost changed my mind about staying at the CR because of all the negative posts on the boards. I'm so glad I didn't, it was the best trip we ever had. I remember saying to my friend "But everyone says it is not Disney themed enough" and she yelled "The monorail runs through it!!!" That kind of snapped me out of it.
