Moderate Resorts need some advice

Hi,
My family has only been to WDW once at Christmas of 2003...Next year at Christmas of 2005 we would like to spend our vacation time at disney again...Our first trip we stayed in a Value Resort, now this time we are thinking about moving up to the moderate Resorts....Which moderate resort would be the best for Christmas decorations and a family atmophere(we have two boys ages 7 and 14 at the time of trip)...Thanks

and we have stayed at POR, POFQ and CSR. All of the resorts had great decorations so that makes it difficult to decide. The decorations were all in keeping with the theme of each resort. Although we have only done the resorts without our "kids" (now all adults), I would probably recommend Port Orleans Riverside for your stay. You'll probably get other opinions, though. Have fun choosing!

Have stayed at POR, CSR, CBR and I would say I would pick POR or CSR. They are our favorites and had great trips at both. (POFQ looks nice, but I think for the age your boys are I would pick one of the others. To us POFQ is great for adults and those with very young kids.) I think they would like either theme. Both have great amenities. Have stayed at both with boys the same age as yours.

POR has the more rustic feel, great food court, boat to DTD, central location, good sized pool area and room to move without being too spread out. CSR is newer, as an upscale food court, awesome pool area, good transportation and a very creative style.

I don't think you can go wrong with either one !!

All of the disney resorts have wonderful decorations. What we do during the holidays is to spend a day visiting all of the resorts. I suggest you pick a resort based upon other personal preferences. In terms of decorations, you will not be disappointed by any resort.

POR is really nice, the decor is warm and charming. This resort has that Souther Hospitality flare. I think if you stay there you will...Love it!

Here are my TOP 10 reasons why...

1. They have two themes. The alligator bayou side which is more woodsy and rustic then there is the mansion side that has the southern plantation charm.

2. They have many quite pools, heated, like that of other resorts as well as the main pool.

3. They have an ol' mans fishin' hole. Here you can use a reed fishing pole to catch bass, catfish, etc. (Your boys would enjoy this if they like to fish.)

4. You can rent surrey bikes to ride along the paths and along the river. It is so beautiful.

5. THE BOAT TO DTD!!! The POFQ also utilizes this boat and let me tell you it is worth it. Parking in DTD can take up to 30 minutes. The boat omits this problem and gives you a scenic, peaceful trip.

6. The resort is being renovated such as POFQ was a year or so ago. Each room will have a mini frig in it.

7. The food court is great and very convenient.

8. You can do a horse drawn carriage ride around the grounds. I have never done this, but we were out walking around and came upon the carriage crossing the bridge.

9. Even if you do not make a ressie for a water or river view, you will most likely still be close to the river. I had a standard room last year and when you walked out the door and turned to your left you were staring at...water!

10. Each day we came back to our room the Mousekeepers left my 2 year old adorable animals made from the towels. I know they do this at other resorts, but it just made our experience a bit more magical. We loved coming back to the room and discovering new animals!

I was always curious about that resort. I will be at the POR in Dec. I will have to check out the CSR. To me it is one of those resorts you don't hear much about.

Probably because everyone is making it thier little secret!
