So they have went with just standard and preferred locations with rooms at moderates resorts now. So a standard location could nab you a parking lot view or a water view? Isn't this the way they have went with the Deluxe resorts already?

If I recall correctly, with the deluxes they collapsed the pool view and water view into just water view? And resort view is parking lot or non water view?

With a sprawling resort like POR, I care more about location than view, so typically book preferred anyway.

Ya, location is more important to me as well. It's just interesting to see them do this.

I'm confused.

Just looked at POR and still has wood view, pool view, river view as well as standard location and preferred location.

POFQ has pool view, garden view, river view...

Just checked for a 2026 date and again POFQ I see pool view, river view, garden view...
POR woods view, river view, pool view...
Available to book though? I have been checking multiple times a day the past 2 days and though the "view" descriptions are listed they are not actually available to book just the "location" description rooms. Not doubting you, I am for real curious.

Oh okay I see now sorry about that. I was just looking at the room categories not that the only ones bookable are standard and preferred.

We are not fans of this move, especially at the Mods, because we never liked standard view and the only resort that I would even think of paying extra for preferred is CBR.

I do wonder if this may have something to do with an upcoming refurb. I know they are getting ready to refurb the Royal rooms so maybe they are refurbing others and have removed them from booking.

Are Royal rooms showing as an option for next year?

This is the same across all the Moderates, not just POR so I don't think it has anything to do with the refurb.

The change is to all moderate resorts, not just POR, so nothing to do with that refurb. Couldn’t find the actual Disney announcement, but this says the Royal rooms aren’t affected.

They invented a preferred location for POFQ (which at that resort would be a bonkers upcharge)

I think the new categories at POFQ will be great for us.
I know it’s a small resort but we still like to be as close as possible to the pool and main building. I’m assuming most of buildings 2, 3, 4, and 5 would be preferred.

I’d rather pay for preferred over booking a garden view room. You could get stuck in any building with a garden view room.

You could get stuck in building 7 with a parking lot view . . . or, based on the theory of the closer buildings being preferred, you could get building 7 with a river view. Huge difference there, to me, since I don't feel any of the buildings at POFQ are that far from the main building and I don't want to end up with a view of the parking lot.

"View" is kind of nonsense at the moderates, other than Coronado Tower, because none of them actually have balconies or even exterior windows that look at anything other than exterior hallway. A huge majority of people in moderates keep their curtains closed whenever they're in their rooms because people are constantly walking by.

Why would you think building 7 would be preferred. That’s about as far away from the main building as you can get. That doesn’t make sense.

I didn't mean it that way--I should have been clearer. I meant that if you had a not-preferred location (standard?) you could end up in building 7 with either a parking lot of river view. To me, there's a huge difference there.

And I do leave the shades open when appropriate and the view means a lot to me. I especially don't want a parking lot view because of the noise.

ETA: I really don't know what other people do--whether they have their shades open or not--but we do, while it's appropriate--and there are lovely views at FQ.
