HI
I am staying in WDW for one night :scared1: following my cruise in October, and was hoping to stay at Wilderness Lodge ... however price ( £187 per night) was a bit OTT really considering we will be in MK the whole time. Even renting DVC points was working out at about £160 for the one night. So we are now considering a moderate resort ... I like the look of Port Orleans FQ or Riverside (only £93 per night), but just wanted to ask which moderate resort do you all recommend. We have never stayed on property before. Also how long is the bus from PO to MK?
Thanks :goodvibes

May also be worth considering Old Key West or Saratoga Springs (de-luxe) - these have and may still be on offer through Disney UK at the same price as a moderate (£100/night studio at OKW) but you get free Disney Dining Plan as opposed to the Quick Service Dining Plan with the moderate hotels. However, free DDP subject to purchasing park tickets at the same time.

We LOVED the Port Orleans Riverside. It's a really beautiful resort, with an excellent food court. It is large, but not crowded or anything. I really recommend it. We stayed in the Alligator Bayou side, we preferred the look of that one better, building 18, close to the main hall, parking, pool, ...

Can you get the free DDP for one night stays though?

thought so ..... is it the same booking on US site?

It depends on the offer that comes out to the general public in the US. At the moment it has only been offered via pin code to randomly selected people. If you are buying the dining plan on the US site, yes, you can buy the DDP for one night, but it would require a minimum purchase of a one day base ticket. If you hadn't planned on getting a park ticket there (or if you already have your tix) it may not be the most cost effective and you could find yourself better off paying OOP for your meals.

Coronado Springs is the only mod with queen beds (all the others have doubles) in case that matters to you. Bus ride time is about 15 mins from CSR.

We love it and stayed there 5 times before buying into DVC. If were ever thinking of booking cash it would be our first choice.

They take the back route to MK from POR so it doesn't take long, maybe 20 minutes. I like Riverside but French Quarter is more compact if that matters to you. Coronado is quite a resort but again spread out.

Which resort were you looking at for renting points - they can vary quite a bit.

If I were staying at a Mod I'd choose Coronado Springs, I'd really really love to stay there! Ironically though our wedding discounts work out that it's $2 more per night than some of the Deluxes so we wont be staying there next trip. Hopefully in a couple of years we will though.

We've stayed in POFQ and absolutely loved it! It is a small resort so you are always close to the amenities and the landscaping is gorgeous!

We've booked for POR this year as it looks lovely too - it is a bit bigger so theoretically you could have a longer walk from your building to the amenities. POR and FQ are sister resorts so you can use the facilities at either.

CSR and CBR both look lovely too, but they are bigger and more spread out. It depends what you are looking for, you will have a lovely stay at any of them. Room sizes are pretty much all the same, and as for the beds, as long as they are comfy I'm happy! I've always found US beds bigger than what I'm used to over here so we always have plenty of room to spread out!

I vote for CSR...they have Queen or King beds which are always better than doubles. They have amazing food. And the grounds are deluxe quality. I also did not think the resort was spread out at all...CSR is a fabulous resort. :yay:

We've stayed at POFQ and CSR and definitely preferred POFQ. The small resort size was something we really missed at CSR, more than we thought we would. Also, we felt CSR was a lot more 'business oriented' than other Disney resorts we've visited, with it having the convention centre (I know many disagree and I thought i'd be among them before I stayed there!) Our one and only Pepper Market experience was mediocre too, especially for my bf as a vegetarian. Just my tuppence worth of course, YMMV!

POFQ is our fave hotel, I highly recommend it. Absolutely beautiful, really peaceful, and compact compared to all the other mod Disney hotels! Have stayed there twice, and would be staying again this year if SSR didn't have such a good offer on!

POFQ is beautiful, we have stayed there about seven times now, its compact and quiet if that is what you are looking for. When we bought DVC I was concerned that we wouldn't be able to stay at POFQ again, as it had become our special resort. I have managed to sneak in some nights there to avoid using points at weekends. Its a lovely, lovely resort

As you are only there for one night, definitely POFQ. This is for the simple reason that the resort is small and easy to navigate, and the last thing you want is to be miles away from everything when you don't have any time to spare.

We stayed at CSR last month and while I think it was a lovely resort with very nice rooms (far nicer than POFQ & CBR), our room was half a mile (really!) from the central area, and it was a bit of a pain. I definitely wouldn't have wanted that for a one night stay. You remove the risk of that with POFQ as even the furthest away room is not far :)
