Moderate resort help...

Leaning towards POR, but I would like to hear other reviews, opinion, ideas!!

I am not going to be a ton of help but thought I would chime in to say that I LOVE POR!!! The grounds are absolutely gorgeous. The food court is great. The boat to DTD (now Disney Springs) is a wonderful perk. I love both sections and it is truly breathtaking and very romantic to walk the paths at night. The only other mod I have stayed at is POFQ, which I also loved, but I can't seem to get myself to try any other resort. Good luck with choosing. I hope that you love POR as much as I do if that's where you end up.

POR Riverside is our fav moderate. Beautiful resort, good food court, boat to DTD, has evening entertainment, and carriage rides. So feel it just has extras you won't find at the other mods. Except French Quarter, the sister resort.
We prefer the mansion section, being on the river.

We are huge fans of POFQ. Having said that, we do like PORS too and are staying there next trip on a Bounceback offer, because we couldn't get POFQ. The big advantage of POFQ IMO is the size. It's compact, easy to get around, minutes to bus stop/food court. Only one bus stop is nice too. We like to enjoy the food court at PORS (only a 10 minute scenic walk along river). Beignets at POFQ are yummy too. Really though, it's the size for us. After a long day of walking in the parks, we like to minimize the walking at the resort. Our second choice would be PORS.

POR is the only moderate I have stayed at and I loved it. This was 5 yrs ago & I found the port orleans resort unofficial site to be incredibly helpful. I think the webmaster is from the UK and he has put a lot of love and attention to detail into his work. Very up to date info along with trip reports and many pics. I have not returned (my next year I tried the Wilderness Lodge) and then to POP as the price point of moderates has escalated wildly over the years.

Either POR resort. We have never stayed at CSR so I can't comment on that one.

POFQ if it's adults only or very young kido's. POR has a really nice large pool for the kids and the resort is gorgeous.

The only moderate I've stayed is POR, it was a split stay with OKW. Normally I stay at the deluxe resorts and would not hesitate to book another trip at POR so that should tell you how much I liked it. It didn't feel crowded, it is a pretty resort with lots of little places to sit and just enjoy. I was in Magnolia Mansion and frankly the walk to the food court and main bus stop didn't seem any longer to me than the walk through some of the hallways in the deluxe resorts. I had no problems with the buses, it didn't take me long to figure out to walk over to the main stop in the morning since it was the last to be picked up so I didn't have to do the loop, there is a stop right behind the building I was in so coming back at night I'd just ride to my stop and get off there. Even riding the loop I think there were only two stops before mine.

Just got back from POR. No issues. Food court not crowded. Yeehaa Bob awesome and we saw him twice. Cheesecake available till midnight. CM's very helpful. Arcade a blast when it rained. Pools not crowded especially the leisure pool outside our room (pool view). Do it and request AB.

POR is a beautiful mod with lots of foliage and pretty walkways along the river.
POR is a nice over all resort that has the boat to Disney Springs. If you plan to go to DSpr frequently then it is a good choice. Almost anyone would love a stay here. We like the preferred rooms in the AB section. They are super conveniently located and really cute! The bayou is gorgeous for an evening stroll.

We also loved CSR and CBR. CBR is great for families with young children - the pool and play area is the best for among the moderates for young children. CBR also has a great relaxing tropical island atmosphere that is a wonderful break after a day in the theme parks. Every area has its own pool and bus stop so you are never far from either of these.
CSR is a great resort for adults only or families with older children that will appreciate the awesome pyramid pool and slide plus the huge hot tub, fitness centre and spa/beauty salon.

POFQ is the smallest mod with only one bus stop. For that reason many people prefer this moderate. However, the pool is only suited to very small children at best. POFQ also does not have a TS restaurant - just the one small food court. Basically, we feel that it has the fewest amenities of all the mods and the least attractive grounds/theme. WE still enjoyed our stay here, though.

It really depends upon what features/theme that you would like for your family. Whichever you choose you will most likely enjoy, because all of the mods are simply awesome! WE have stayed at them all and enjoyed every one!

I'm currently trying to decide between POR, POFQ, and CBR. This will be the first trip for me and my two girls, my husband went when he was 9. They all look so amazing and it is so hard to choose

We have stayed at POR and just got back from POFQ. Both are great resorts and we would not hesitate to stay at either again. I definitely prefer the landscaping, the pool, and the food court at POR, but we just walked over from POFQ and were still able to enjoy both resorts. POR is more shaded and has hammocks at the pool and a better water slide, too. That being said, our 8 and 3 year olds really enjoyed both pools- they spent several hours at both.

POFQ is smaller than POR, but still did not feel "small." We had a shorter walk to the food court and pool than we did at POR, but we still had a walk. The lack of a table service restaurant was not an issue for us at all. Bus service at POFQ was very good and very convenient. Definitely better bus service than at POR, where you have to deal with 4 different stops.

If your choice is between the two, I would decide which is more important: convenience (choose POFQ) or grounds (choose POR).

We will be staying at CBR next year to try something new, though I am afraid we will miss Port Orleans.
