I hope i can post this here. well my son just went to this modeling scout and got chosen the name of the agent is proscout! i was wondering if anybody knows any info about it or is it a rip off:confused3 hes only 8 and i dont want to get his hopes up if its a joke!

Sounds slightly like a scam. I've been scammed a couple of times (luckily it wasn't for much money), but we've have good luck with an agency. :thumbsup2
You're better off to get with an agency than deal with these foolish people, I hate to say it but your son was probally one of a hundred chosen. I like to relate these schemes to junk mail that says you've won a new car on the outside, but on the inside says you have to send in twenty dollars to recieve it or something! :rotfl:

Good luck, the business can be rewarding if you get into it the right way. :goodvibes

My kids have dabbled in modeling. I wouldn't pay ProScout any money.

Find a reputable agent in your area. I used to read a board over on Parentsplace.com that was on child modeling. The people were nice and from all over the country. If you are really interested, go there and search for others near your city.

My oldest used to model for FFT, NTM, and one other company (can't remember!) and you never give any money. You will, however, have to put out a good amount of $$$ to get professional pictures done. My DD was under 4 when she did it, so home pictures were ok, but at his age, they will require them. Just do as much research as you can before you sign anything!!!!

Absolutely, I can't stress doing research enough! The best advice I can give you is just to get with a good agency. Don't fall for modeling schools or anything like that either, there is no need of it, even if your child could use a few pointers they don't need to go to classes.

As far as headshots go, you definately need them for an older child. My DD3.5 was fine with a "mommy shot" when she just got started, but they're overall good to have.

I would take your son/daughter to a local picture place, like picture people, Sears, JCPenny..and ask them to get a good close up of your child, that shows a little personality. Get a bunch of them printed, and mail them to your local agencies that hire children. You can find agencies online and print out their addresses. You'd be surprised by the response you will get. Proscout, I believe asks for money up front, and doesn't promise anything. A lot of agencies, have their own photographer, so after you son signs with someone, they may require different photos, which they usually will take the payment for out of their first paycheck, so it's no money out of your pocket.
