I may need a mobility scooter for an up coming trip. I plan to rent it...do you need to worry about people taking them? is there a special place to park them? Thank you!

I have never had an issue with having one stolen--sometimes they might get moved by a CM. I usually park near where the strollers park. For sure don't leave anything valuable on the scooter while you go on a ride or eat--there's bad people even at Disney who will steal things. I also take a lanyard or bungee cord and attach it to the key and attach that to my purse so I don't forget to take the key.

Great idea! I don't want to have my rented scooter disappear. thanks for the tip!

Being something to make it your own / standout. I have seen people make poster type things to hang on the back of it or a bandanna.

One rented ECV can look like another.

Just tie a length of bright grosgrain ribbon to your rental - or as @gap2368 said above, a bright, colorful bandana. Something to help it stand out in a sea of similar units.

Then you can tell the Cast Members who are helping you spot it in the parking area "It has a bright green bandana tied to the basket!" 🙂

Let us know if you have any other questions about using an ECV 🙂

I was just coming here to suggest the same thing! In the several years that I've been using a scooter, no one's stolen it, but "helpful" CMs have moved it several times. And yes, they've always just had me sit while they find it, and it's nice to be able to say "it's the one with the [in my case] bright pink bandana tied to it."

I put the key to the rental scooter on a coiled plastic key ring that can fit on my wrist. That way it’s always ready to go but not left in the scooter

You can go to the dollar store and get some cheap decorations - include battery powered strings of lights and use those to decorate your scooter!

Or in my case “...the miniature Tinkerbell pom poms and matching whirligig pinwheel attached to the front”. 😂😂

Somewhere here there is a thread where they took the Mom/MIL to Disneyland and when the husband and his Mom came out of a restaurant, she mistook an ECV for hers and left with it. Soon she realized her mistake and went back to the restaurant where the poor other lady was very upset that her scooter was "stolen". So, obviously this can happen by mistake, which is why you should always put identifying objects on yours to prevent this. It would be very rare someone would try to steal it, but they might mistake it for theirs and take off with it. The person who wrote about it was very funny and a good writer, wish I could remember the thread.

Yes, Good point. Because as I learned the hard way, the keys are interchangeable-will work on more than one scooter, so unlike a car, you can put the key in, start up the scooter, and it may not be yours.
