If I switch off my data roaming can the hubby and myself use our mobiles in the US as normal between each other. Like if I take the little ones on a ride while he takes the big ones will we be able to call or message each other for the normal price in the uk? Thanks x

You can still use them but it will not be the same prices as the UK. It's usually about £1-£2 a minute so most people opt to get a prepaid US sim whilst there and load about $10-$20 on it. You will need to make sure your phone is unlocked before you do this though.

As above, You need to make sure you have international call bar lifted and the prices will be high. I just checked my provider, Three, and it costs £1.40/min to call, 99p/min to recieve calls. Far too expensive for me.
We always use text if we need to contact each other 35p/text.
