I have an iphone 3g and a blackberry curve that I never use and I had hoped to get some cash back to put into the disney fund ... the local shop where I've sold a phone before wasn't interested so I started looking at the sites that pay you for your old phone. But now I've read many horror stories about these companies failing to pay out, sending cheques that bounce and stating phones were broken when they arrive so offering much less than the site offers.

Has anyone experience of using them?? Any 'decent' ones out there?

Will the likes of the main phone shops, ie, O2 and Vodafone not buy them from you? I traded my old mobile in with them just last month and they gave me £50 cashback for it? I don't know if this was because I was then upgrading with them or not.

But if they're both in good working order, I'd try there first before sending them off to the internet ones.

DW sold 2 of our old ones last month using http://www.simplydrop.co.uk/

It is run by Royal Mail and they offered her £10 more for one of the phones than the nearest other site did.
She also liked the way that she didn't have to wait for a cheque etc. She got a text message once the phones had arrived - all she then had to do was go to our local post office and they paid her out over the counter :goodvibes

Very quick. Very easy. Highly recommended.

thanks for the info ... I started with mse's comparison tool ... but then I read the feedback ... I have a tendency to think that people who have a bad experience are far more likely to get online and shout about it but there were some very angry customers - put me off!!

I used Mazuma for my iPhone and hubby sold his blackberry with RPC Recycle, no problem with either.

I used the comparison on MSE.

Mazuma was the simplest as they got the phone that morning and the money was in my bank account that evening.

I've used two - mazuma and envirofone.

Mazuma were very easy and quick - I'd recommend them if you know your phone is in good working order.

Envirofone are very good if there's problems with your phone - you send it to them and they then evaluate it and offer you a price. If you don't like the price then you can request your phone sent back to you free of charge.

I didn't have to request mine back so haven't tested that part but i got a far better price than if id sent the phone in and classed it as broken myself (basically had water damage that meant the phone worked fine apart from a problematic power button).

I used a site called sellmymobile.com to recycle my mobile. It's great as it's a comparison site I defo got the best money for my mobile!

I used the Royal Mail one, got the best price compared to the others and received my money within 3 days :cool1:

The Royal Mail service is reliable and I would use them again.
If the phone is old why not donate it to the Salvation Army or other charities as the recycle company's do not want them and I will be of use to someone who could still use it.
