We're from Australia. Will be travelling with my teenagers and will be splitting up in the parks. Would like to keep in contact by mobile phone. Have heard our current mobiles will not work in USA, we need tri frequency phones.

Can anyone suggest where I can purchase a cheap prepaid mobile phone at any grocery stores on the way to WDW?

Will be arriving at airport and travelling by Prestige Towncar Service via a grocery stop - any suggestions where I may be able to buy one on arrival?

TracFone (www.tracfone.com) is available at any WalMart. A phone will set you back about $45 and a prepaid time card starts at $20.

A cheaper option might be handy talkie two way radios. We picked ours up at Home Depot for $20 for a set of two. Add batteries for about $5 and you have a fairly usable communication solution, at least if everyone is in the same park.

Virgin Records in Downtown Disney also sells cell phones. I would worry about walkie talkies since so many people use them. Lots of interference.

Are there 7-11's in FL? I can't remember - but they sell the AT&T prepaid phones. (Which is now Cingular? I think?)

Something that I am close to. If you don't mind buying a new phone, and use GSM, buy one that is a "quad-band" That will assure that it will work over here. You will also need to contact your carrier to make sure that you can roam internationally. It may or may not be cost effective to do this, I don't know what the cost of the Trac-phones are, but they typically either use Cingular or Verizon's network.
If you plan on using a lot of airtime, make sure you do a cost analysis before hand, it may be cheaper to buy a new handset at home that is capable than doing the pre-paid thing.

Lots of folks sell their old prepaids on Ebay, so you can get them very cheaply that way, or, of course, you can order them online from any number of new dealers and have them shipped directly to your resort address.

The phones can be activated (or re-activated) by buying a new airtime card and calling the network. Airtime cards can be purchased at most large discount stores (such as Target and WalMart), electronics stores (such as BestBuy or Circuit City) and even at some gas stations or convenience stores.

Not sure how much international travel you do but you may want to just invest in an unlocked international cell phone. They can be had for under a $100 on ebay. Then when you travel to another country you purchase a sim card and pop it in the phone. I have an unlocked Sony T616 and it is a great little phone that I have taken all over the world. If I am only visiting a country for a day or two I just use my "regular" SIM card from home but if I know I will be burning alot of minutes I pop into any convenience store and buy a pre paid local SIM.

:laundy:Hey guys,

Since this "Suggest me a mobile phone" is the one of the most common type ,which I've written a simple questionnaire for mobile purchase queries.
Use this template when asking for mobile purchase suggestion.

And finally is this ok from Best Buy Coupon.......?:confused3
