Mobile Phone Luddite Needs Advice

My wife and I are both mobile phone luddites. We each have bog standard pay as you go phones (mine with Vodafone, hers with 02)

Staying onsite at CBR with our 11 year old and 3 year old we envisage a considerable time "split up" during the holiday to try and keep both kids happy and us sane.

Its one thing to say that one of us will take our 3 year old back to the hotel for a nap and meet up later but I imagine quite another thing to stay in touch in case of problems.

So it comes down to mobile phones.

I would assume our bog standard phones are incompatible overseas so would welcome advice as to solve this problem.

You will need a "tri-band" mobile phone for use in USA. Post the model numbers of your phones and I will try to find out if they will work for you!

Hi, I've just posted on here about mobile phones. If yours aren't tri-band you can pick up a Motorola (we got ours from Walmart) for $18 each and the AT&T pay as you go starts at $10.

It was invaluable for us to keep in touch with each other and for contacting home - just to rub it in that they weren't with us!

That is probably your best option Colonel2, As you will be using the phones to call each other, your call cost will be reasonably low. If you were to use two UK based phones, your calls would be much more expensive.

think with the at+t phones costs $1 a day and then calls free for 24 hours to mobiles.we looked at getting a sim from ebay
