Does anyone know if mobile phone chargers work ok with an adapter in US? Also, as we use a battery charger ( for NI MH re chargeables)for the digital camera, does this work ok with an adapter?

Hello,

I have never had any problems with using a charger & adapter in the US or in Europe.

Use them for Digital camera, Mobile phone and Camcorder.

Yup, UK chargers will work fine with a US-style plyg adapter for them. We've been charging batteries for cameras, video cameras, phones, shavers etc. for years. The only problem you might have is if your appliance/charger isn't designed to run on 110v as well as 240v. It either just won't work, or it will charge at a slower rate. Personally, I've never experienced the problem, but from what I have been told it could happen, though is rare. You'll never damage any equipment by running it on 110v though, as it is lower power than in the UK. If you brought a US appliance over here and ran it, it could blow the appliance adapter if it wasn't designed to work at 240v as well, so we are fortunate that we can only go to countries with a lower voltage than ours, and therefore no risk to our equipment! ;)

We have had no problems all the years we have been going to Florida until last Oct. I took my new Motorola v220. it would not charge. When I returned home I rang Moto they told me I needed a US charger but there supplier was out of stock. I went on ebay bought 1 for 99 cents including a free car charger ($3 P&P to UK) used at Xmas no problems.
So 99% of electrical items will be OK but there is always one with a problem.

My Nokia 3100 tri band won't charge from the wall socket in the US, it will only charge in the car. When you plug it in via an adapter the screen shows a sort of "no entry" sign and says "not charging". I spoke to Nokia and Carphone Warehouse and they said "dunno".
The Sony digital camera recharges from the wall socket just fine.

I also have a Nokia mobile and when we were over there in March the charger wouldn't work. You need to get a charger that's compatable in the US or take your in-car charger.

I have a Motorola V220, guess I'll need to see about buying an in-car charger?! I'll try e-bay since that comes recommended.

I use my in-car charger. The one I use over here works fine there too.

DH and I both have Nokias and they worked fine with the UK charger.

Thanks for the info. We don't bother with a hire car if we are just at WDW or Universal so the car charger isn't a solution. Off to Carphone Warehouse again!!
