Mobile ordering: Apple Pay vs. Disney gift card

I've read previous comments about having to enter the ID number of a physical Disney gift card every time you want to mobile order food at Disneyland. Someone had a good suggestion of putting the number in Notes so it could easily be copied and pasted into the payment window, but that's still a bit of a hassle.

I just pretended to order some food from Bengal Barbecue (yumm!) and saw that there was an option to have the Disneyland app scan the barcode on my gift card. Unfortunately, that failed both times I tried it, so it told me to enter the card number manually. Has anyone had any luck with the bar code scanning?

I have one small-value Disney gift card and was thinking of buying more with some credit-card reward points I have available, but it sure looks easier to just use Apple Pay. Thoughts?

I created an iOS shortcut that when run will auto search your Notes for one titled “Disney Giftcard”, find the first 16-digit number, copy it to the clipboard and then launch the Disneyland app.

I had it set as a widget on my home screen so it was one tap.

Just make sure you have the Shortcuts app installed from Apple (it might come installed by default) and click the link above.

Similar to the PP, except not as fancy. I keep my gift card number in my Notes and copy/paste. It doesn't take but a couple extra seconds than Apple Pay does

Thank you, MV! That's very slick. I've heard of Shortcuts but hadn't used them.

I did have a little problem at first because Apple Notes auto-corrected "giftcard" to "gift card," but as soon as I edited the shortcut to match (I could have done the opposite), it worked fine.

And yes, tobikaye, it isn't a big hassle to copy and paste manually from Notes. It's just so easy to double-click the button to use Apple Pay that I'm tempted to use that. :-) But maybe I'll estimate my food costs for my trip and add some money to my gift card.
