Mobile calls question

Please cam someoen confirm how call charges work from uk mobiles in the states when

a) calling another UK mobile which is in Florida?

b) calling a UK landline or mobile which is in UK?

c) calling a US number on the mobile whilst in Florida?

On my contract I have a 75p connection charge for international calls with the minutes being part of my free monthly allowance

when calling a mobile from the uk to us i don't think you are charged, the person receiving will be charged,same for texts and picture messages
you will be charged on b and c
i'm sure this is the right info, sure someone will come along and verify all 3 questions for you

It may well vary with network providers but I will say from a guess -

a) Calling from a UK mobile will be charged the International rate and the recieving mobile will pay for the International part of the call.

b) If you have a 75p connection fee and then free calls then that is all you pay, the UK end pay nothing.

c) Again if you have a 75p connection fee and then free calls then that is all you pay, the US end pay nothing.

The cheapest way to stay in touch whilst in Florida is to purchase some USA T Mobile SIM cards, Scotishjohn on Ebay sells them.

If your contract is with vodafone and you are talking about the 75p fee Passport system they operate then please be aware it does not cover the US.

US calls are £1.40 per minute to make and £0.99 a minute to receive.

If you aren't with vodafone please tell me which provider you use *** it may be worth me changing to that one too!

Hi yes am on Vodafone, and no they didn't tell me it excluded the US, they just said international calls.

Vodaphone passport countries.

So looks like international rate for US

Just phoned VF and after the greetings my questions was " my undrstanding of Passport is that for international calls it is 75p connection and minutes from free allowance" and this was confirmed to be correct. Thats for internatiopnal call I said, yes was the reply !

I then asked whether this is true for US, to which I was told, no it only applies to Europe. Calls are £1.49 to make and £0.99 to receive.

I then instigated a discussion about being misold a contract under false advice (VF have always refererd to it as International calls) which had just been replicated in the call currently in progress. Advisor credited me £5 on my account and said they would investigate and review past telephone conversations with regard to selling of contract.

He did volunteer the best way to avoid expensive calls is to but a Sim in the US.
