I went to see Moana last night as part of a premiere/screening event in Edmonton, Alberta, and I LOVED it! I'm so glad Disney focuses on telling a good story (as opposed to some other film studios, where they spend their budget on getting celebrities to voice every character and then tell a lackluster story). The strong, independent female lead character was great to see, and I loved that a Disney princess was not just on a quest for love.

The music was great, Lin-Manual Miranda *should* win some awards for the songs he wrote. I will more than likely purchase a copy of the soundtrack, I enjoyed it that much.

If you're a Flight of the Conchords fan, be ready for Jermaine Clement's scene - hilarious.

I thought the movie lived up to all the hype, it kept me captivated the entire time.

I'm sure the movie will have haters, every movie does, so I look forward to hearing what other people thought of it!

I can't wait to see this! It looks so amazing. I will be at the first possible showing next week and will post my thoughts afterwards.

Glad to hear you loved it! I'm counting down the days til' it comes out. Taking my cousin to see it on premiere night for her birthday. So excited!

I just bought our tickets to see Moana next Friday :) It will be worth paying to be at the theater with reserved seats. Yay!

I took my daughter to see it last night for a father daughter night and my four year old loved it. We both thought Hei Hei was very funny and the music was great. Now my wife is jealous that we went to see it without her but I would gladly go see it again since it was so good.

I went with two kids last night (almost 5 and almost 7) and it was a fun movie. The younger one did get scared a number of times and he was pretty confused by the ending. The older one enjoyed the movie and didn't seem to get as scared much. They both really liked Hei Hei and Pua (the animal sidekicks, of course!), but the the only song they seemed to really remember was "Shiny" and just that line from the song, which we heard over-and-over in the car on the ride home (perhaps because it was the last thing they saw given the tag scene after the credits).

From the adult's perspective, we also liked the movie had a strong heroine and that it wasn't a "love" (romance) story.

DW has a co-worker who just saw it and said it was one of the best movies she's ever seen. She didn't mean best Disney movie, she meant every movie!

I just saw it. It is a visual masterpeice! The story was great too, though with a shaky start. The girl playing Moana was fantastic! Overall another home run for Walt Disney Animation Studios.

Also, the Inner Workings short was pretty funny.

Saw it twice today !! Loved it !! Thought the voiceovers were excellent , and the animation was brilliant !!
Not to mention the score --- Lin is brilliant !!

Moana now takes the top spot in my favorite Disney list! Visually stunning. Wonderful message! Music was incredible! A new Disney classic!

I am not familiar with Hawaiian or Polynesian legends but I assume this movie was based on one, or at least having a demigod character named Maui creates that impression. When I left the theater, my thought was "such a simple story so perfectly presented." I cannot think of any other movie where the ocean itself was one of the main characters interacting in a friendly way with others. Nothing was overdone unless one considers fantastic animation overdone. The movie definitely focused on story rather than the story being an excuse for slapstick and one liners that many other non-Disney animation companies focus on. Moana has immediately become the strongest and most independent princess Disney has ever created -- with a little intentional play on the point in the movie when she denies she is a princess. She reminded me of Mulan, one of my favorites, but she definitely surpassed that. In my view, the best movie of the year.

I saw Moana today; enjoyed it a lot. I am still pulling for Zootopia to win the Animated Feature Oscar, but would not throw things at the TV if Moana won. And coming from me, that's a big compliment.

No spoilers, but the whole sequence around the first time we hear the song "We know the way" was awesome and that is the song I want Lin-Manuel to get his Oscar for.

I want to give a big hug to everyone at Walt Disney Feature Animation. They have been on such a great winning streak, I get excited at the Steamboat Willie logo just knowing "this is gonna be good!"

I loved it to me it was just missing that Alan Menken touch in the music department...my only flaw!

Good/Great music but nothing iconic
