Ok I don't want to get flamed for this but here goes.
I'm planning an Oct 2013 trip to WDW and am on the fence about paying for the MNSSHP
2 of my 3 DD's are pretty big scaredy cats, and one in particular doesn't like skeletons and graves and I did notice that in the parade.
Now I guess I have a different question than I thought
I was going to ask if I should go to MNSSHP but I think I know them well enough that they wouldn't be comfortable
SO I'm wondering is the rest of the park open during the parade? I know they would love to do the trick or treating in the park and you have to buy tickets to the party to do this correct?
thats pretty expensive to just trick or treat haha
is there anything else going on during the parade? I suppose I could just tell them not to look during the parts I know they wont like
or save my money and just not trick or treat

ok I need to eat I cant even put my thoughts together rationally if anyone understands my post please reply haha:confused3:lmao:

It doesn't sound to me like MNSSHP makes sense for you.

Well yes the rest of the park is open during the parade, but the parade/fireworks/halloween atmosphere is why the vast majority of people go to the party.

If you are just going to trick or treat the I agree with mesaboy, it might not be worth it if they won't enjoy the other parts of the party.

I would show them youtube videos of the parade and see what they think about it. If they do not like it, then I would not go. You can buy an awful lot of candy with all of the money you would spend on admission to the party. How old are the kids?

With all of the light up skeleton heads I've seen at the party the last two years, I think it's a bad fit for you.

thanks for the replies every one thats what i was thinking

the kids will be 10, 9 and 6 next year,
but the younger two are very sensitive

I like the idea of showing them the video too, and its a year away so not like I have to decide tonight but I'm a planner so I was doing my early planning :thumbsup2

I would skip MNSSHP and look into SeaWorld's Spooktacular event. That seems to be a much better fit for your kids.

We just did MNSSHP on Tuesday the 25th. I agree that the parade does not sound like something your group would enjoy. There are definitely a few creepy things, like the Headless Horsemen and the Haunted Mansion floats and dancers. They play Halloween inspired music in the parks, including narration from the Haunted Mansion. That being said, the rides that were open were all practically walk-ons, and there are some great photo ops. There were dressed up characters - Fairy Tale Daisy and Donald, and the Seven Dwarfs in front of their lighted up jewels in mine cards that we saw. So...not sure you want to spend a lot of money just for the few things your crew might enjoy.

YES you must pay to be in the park even if you only want to do the trick or treating. It's a hard ticket event.

That said, it doesn't sound like the party would fit your kid's needs. They play spooky music, and there are Halloween decorations about. You have plenty of time for them to come around and change their minds though! I like the idea of youtubing some of the party offerings to show them.

The last time we were there, my DD, 5 at the time, did not like the parade, at all. It def freaked her out a bit. Four years later, she wants to do the party but wants nothing to do with the parade. She loved everything else about the party, including the Haunted Mansion and surrounding area.

Good luck with your decision.
