I have a question about this. I am going to be there sept 15 and i want to go to this. My sister in law also wants to go but she wants to know what exactly it is and if it is worth it. This is her kids first and last time going a 6 year old boy and a 4 year old girl. she will be paying about 150 bucks total to go and wanted to know what happened how long it was and if it was worth it. I have never been so i couldn't answer her question. Can someone explain please? :sunny:

This is my first time going so I can't give you a lot of info but I think it is worth it for us and already paid the $150 for tickets. The party goes on from 7pm-12am and there are special parades, fireworks, characters in costumes and trick or treating. Here is more info on it.

It is a Halloween party. Kids and some adults are dressed in costume.(although you do not have to) There are trick or treat stations set up all around the park for candy. There is a special Halloween parade -The Boo To You Halloween Parade, and special fireworks-Hallowishes. Characters are dressed in costume and you see many that are not out on a normal day. The park closes at 6PM to the public and only visitors with party tickets are allowed to stay in the parks. You receive a wristband and a trick or treat bag when you enter. In the past, you have been able to enter as early as 4PM with only your Halloween party ticket, but the parks are still open to the public until 6. At 6PM the CMs direct everyone to one or two areas of the park until 7 when the party officially begins. During that hour, the park is transformed from its normal state and decor into a fall/Halloween festival. There are also special performances-dance with characters, some shows, storytelling spots, and fortune telling. There is facepainting for the kids and some other stuff. I can't recall everything. There is a link for the party on this site as well as on allearsnet.com that explains the whole thing and has pictures. It is a lot of fun and my kids really enjoyed it. We are going again this year. Try it and have fun. Most of the major rides are running and several food places stay open. Party goes until midnight.

As long as her kids can keep going until midnight it is worth it. We never did the parties when our kids were that young because we knew that they would get cranky at about 10 pm. Recently we have been to MNSSHP and MVMCP, but our youngest is 8. Both times it seemed somewhat crowded, but the crowds cleared out immensely at about 10 when all the folks with little kids left. After that we felt like we had the park to ourselves.

I can't speak as to anyone's financial situation but I don't have the money for it and I'm still going. It is a fun night.

It is a must do. Especially if this is the one and only trip. You can save a day on park passes if you just relax and nap the day of the party and get to MK at 4:00. If you're rested you can make it until midnight. You then will have 8 hours at MK.

You also receive a "complimentary" picture for everyone attending the party. You can't beat trick or treating at WDW.

I would definately use a stroller(s). That will keep them from getting tired and be able to enjoy the whole evening.

Just wanted to add........there is a limited number of tickets sold for these parties so this means almost no line if any line at all for the rides. This would be a benefit for the kids. No or very little waiting for Winnie the Pooh, Peter Pan, Snow White, etc. This in itself might make it worth the price of admission.

Thank you all for your help. I will most likely take the kids myself and let my sister in law have the night to herself. Thanks again.

Dh surprised us with tickets last fall. We had never been before; and, quite frankly, I had never been all that interested in attending. In fact, we were at WDW over Halloween the previous year and had by-passed attending then. I guess you've already figured out where this is going....We had an absolute blast and will be returning for MNSSHP again this year -- perhaps for 2 parties this time. Last year, dh and I didn't dress-up. About half of the adults and nearly all of the children were in costume when we attended in mid-October. We WILL all dress-up this year. Highpoints from our visit: the fantastic Halloween-themed parade (get a seat early -- both the early and late parades were crowded during our visit), the lights on Main Street, the eery fog and lights on the Haunted Mansion (We were disappointed to miss the story teller here.), free face-painting, photos in front of Cinderella's carriage, characters in Halloween costumes (too cute!!!), and LOTS of candy. It was just so much fun. However, don't go expecting few people. While the park was nearly empty during the first hour of the party, it remained quite crowded from then until closing. BTW, strollers are free during the party.

I would probably skip it unless her little ones are night owls- it is really fun though

If you're the type of person who loves Disney (like us Dis'ers) then it is worth it.
But if you're going with the thought that this is your first and last trip, you've already closed your mind to your having fun - In other words, it won't be worth it.
If you're not a Disney lover, then it will never be worth it. There will always be something wrong with something; too expensive: I could've bought that at the cheap souvenier store on International Drive for more than half the price; the hamburgers cost more here than a whole meal at McDonalds; The candy was cheap; the characters weren't out when I wanted them out; I had to wait on a line for five minutes but the Dis'ers said there would be no line;

We've heard it all here on the Dis. There is nothing a Dis'er can say to convince a non-Dis'er if something is worth it.

I can tell you that me and my family love MNSSHP. It is definitely worth it to us. I'd rather not waste my money on a hundred pairs of shoes and a new outfit every week. I'd like to spend it on going back to Disney.

When it comes to dealing with your SIL, don't try to convince her until you are blue in the face - it won't be worth it. You'll be frustrated and she'll get tired of hearing you.

Since you have the tickets, go and have the best time that you can. Tell your First And Last Time SIL to keep an open mind. Disney is for everyone, and MNSSHP is Disney Magic at its Finest!!! :joker:

I am definatly a Dis'er and I have already stopped fighting with her. I am going and she can stay at the hotel and be bored for all I care. I go to Disney twice a year and this is something I have never done before and I would love to go and enjoy it. I feel bad that my neices and nephew won't be able to experience this magic, but I am sure I can create some really good magic for them elsewhere. But I know I am definatly going to have fun at the MNSSHP.

:woohoo: You Go, Girl!!!!!!! :woohoo:

Oh my gosh, GO! GO! GO!

My DD and I went a few years ago and loved it so much we went back a couple of nights later! It was wonderful! Probably the most fun we have ever had!

The candy at the trick or treating is the good kind...like trick or treat in a rich neighborhood!

The parade (and we usually don't line up for parades) is wonderful! The headless horseman rides thru at the start. There are more characters in the park than at any other time. You will see characters that are never out! The wicked witch from Snow White gave my DD an apple!

You can walk on to rides!

Cinderella's coach is outside the castle so you can take pictures in front of it!

I could go on and on! Be sure to go, you will not be disappointed! If you do go, get to the park before regular closing time (a couple of hours). Let them know you have MNSSHP tickets and they may be able to wristband you at that time. As the park closes for regular guests, be near you favorite rides and walk right on. You can even walk onto Dumbo!

Enjoy! :woohoo: :bounce:

I knew last year my DH would never go for the extra cost of a night at MNSSHP, so we didn't purchase a regular park ticket for that day, just the Halloween Party tickets. We got to sleep in, visit the pool, check out the other resort activities, do some DTD shopping, and then hit the MK at 4:00, which is when they will allow MNSSHP people in. That gave us 8 hours in the park! And although the walkways were crowded, the rides were empty. The longest line we waited in was 15 min. There were tons of characters out, including those rare villian appearances, and the atmosphere was amazing. The spooky decorations, music, lighting, fog, etc, and at least half of the people were in costume, both children and adults. The trick-or-treat candy was all chocolates: snickers, milky way, twix, etc! Although our kids were focused on rides because of the no-line status, we did manage to see part of the parade and fireworks, which were unbelievable! Guess what - we're going this year in October so we can experience it again. Totally worth it for a unique Disney experience. If your neice and nephew have birthdays before your trip, perhaps a ticket to the party as a birthday gift would help your SIL feel better about going.

It's a "must do" in my book!
