MNSSHP worth it with no character greets?

We went to the party last night. We did not go to meet any characters. We go for the parade, fireworks and trick or treating. We did end up meeting Buzz, Mickey and Lotso cause there was no wait.

Hold.the.phone. Are you telling me Lotso is there...at the party? If so, scratch my response about not caring about characters. I need a pic of me punching Lotso. He's the worst villain in my opinion.

Yes. Head there early. Last year, he had about a 30-minute wait before the fireworks.

This thread has me rethinking not going to MNSSHP. I'm really not a fan of Halloween and it's so expensive. We will be there Oct 30-31 and I know my daughter is sad about missing Halloween. Sounds like everyone has a great time though.

Are the lines short enough that we could go on Peter Pan and 7DMT without a FP? What are the waits usually like? Is everything available (like Enchanted Tales with Belle) or is it limited?

To me its about what you expect.........for you. If you're not into the M&G's hey that's your decision. For my wife and I a big draw for the holiday parties is the characters that you normally don't have access to.........7 dwarfs, Jack Skelington, Halloween Mickey, etc..........we also love the atmosphere, party specific shows, fireworks too.................its a really subjective call. No correct answer.

Have a great vacation.

We just lined up to see him because he happened to walk out and there was no line. I had no idea who he was or that he was a villain. :rotfl:He gives great hugs!

Happy fall (almost) y'all! My family is heading down next month, and were considering attending the Halloween party. We've been to Disney upwards of 10 times, but have never attended a party or special event other than the old e-ride nights. We aren't really interested in character meet and greets. Would the party still be worth it if we skipped those entirely? From reviews I've read it seems most people are really excited about meeting rare characters more than anything. We are more interested in low waits for some rides, the fireworks, and generally soaking up the atmosphere. It's a short trip for us this time (just 3 park days), so I want to make sure we're getting the must bang for our buck. Thoughts?
For us.... we've never done any of the meet and greets..... just not that crazy about waiting in line for characters. But we love MNSSHP! To us it's well worth it for the parade, fireworks and the entire atmosphere!! So, I'd say go for it!

For what it's worth, I am not interested in characters either. I love the atmosphere, ride times and fireworks. I am also going for 3 days, and I am doing MNSSHP twice. :sunny:

First of all, worth is different to everyone. To me and my family, this party is worth it, even without getting pictures with the characters. (Even though they are so adorable in their Halloween Costumes). The Atmosphere is really amazing, the Parade is a must see, and the Fireworks will give you goose bumps, (Well, they give me goose bumps, but I cry when I see the castle). We only usually ride one ride the night of the party and it's the Haunted Mansion, so i'm not sure about the wait times.

Our families seem very similar! We did MNSSHP several times and didn't care for the rare characters. The special parade and wishes is worth it! Also ride lines are extremely low, you can get twice as much done as usual. I think it was way worth it, even without characters!

We have gone to Disney World in May, June, August, October, November and December. We have decided our favorite time of year, hands down, is October. A big reason is the MNSSHP. I don't think we met any characters. If we did, I don't remember. We love the parade, fireworks, a little trick or treating and the atmosphere. So many great memories from that trip. We are hoping to go back in October 2018.
