MNSSHP, tell me about it!

I just realized that we will be at Disney during one night when there is a Mickey's not so scary Halloween Party.

I'm so excited since we LOVE the Christmas Party. So give me tips, things not to miss. Where to go etc. Also should we eat before the party? Maybe make ADRs at Liberty Tree or Crystal Palace for 5:30-6:00.

Give me pointers, spoilers, anything so that we have the best experience.

Also did you dress up???

Hey Jayden---Saw we posted our MNSSHP questions at the same time. Great minds think alike, I guess! We'll be there Sept. 29th and can't wait. Hope you have a great time, too!

MNSSHP is a must. It offers the following;

trick or treating throughout the park (for old and young alike)
characters in costume
harder to find characters
dance parties with the characters
special parade
special fireworks
complimentary picture for each member of your party

Unlike Christmas time where the parks are decorated.....this is the only time that you will see anything decorated for Halloween.

Just like MVMCP you may enter the park with your MNSSHP ticket at 4:00. The park closes from 6 - 7 while they decorate. All people attending the party are put into one of the lands. You can either choose to make ADR's during this time or eat at the CS that is in the land they have put everyone.

It's a great time. I really think you would enjoy it.

What exactly is a dance party? Do you just dance with characters?

Also do you get candy if you aren't dressed up or do you have to be dressed up?

we went to the halloween party 2 yrs ago. I wont spoil anything for you but we did have a blast. Dont miss the fireworks and have your seat early for the parade. You dont want to miss the very beginning of the parade. We had an adr for cindys around 5ish. Afterwords we headed back for the haunted mansion and were able to ride it all by ourselves.....it was the highlight of our trip. We rode Btmrr several times in a row. the party we went to most of the rides were walk ons or a 5-10 minute wait. We did dress in costume which was a blast, but didnt trick or treat too much because the youngest was 11 and was really wanting to ride rides which was perfect for me. we also saw the fortune tellers. I dont know if they are there every year but mine was right on.

This year we are going to the mvmcp again. I will have to say though that i will miss the halloween party and the f&w festival. Have fun.

When we were there they also had a fortune teller over by Aloha Isle, and haunted river boat rides on the paddle wheelers. A group who looked like they came from the Haunted Mansion came out and sang and told ghost stories during the ride. In Fantasyland Cinderella's coach was on display and there were characters including princesses out. Instead of Tink flying from the castle there was a witch. If you surf at all on Disney sites you'll see what happens at the beginning of the parade.

We dressed as Harrry Potter characters which stood out in the sea of Disney costumes. We got alot of interaction with other guests and cm's because of it. To me going in costume is a big must. We had an early dinner at CRT. It was during the time that the park was being transformed so we didn't end up having to leave then go back. We changed into costume in the restroom. I want to wait to take the kids MNSSHP in '07 since dh is deployed for this coming one.

Yes, you dance with the characters.

No, you don't have to be dressed up to get candy. I would say almost every child there is in costume. Many adults wear costumes, but there are many who don't as well. Matching Halloween t-shirts is a good way to go if you want to be somewhat Halloweenish for the party. Otherwise just wear your regular clothes....there are no rules for this party. If you do wear a costume, give it some thought, it can be very hot for these parties so you don't want a costume that you'll be overheated in.
