Hi all,

My group going this year are all going to the MNSSHP in costumes but I'm wondering just how to pull off what we're planning. The 2 guys in our group are going dressed in balck pants, button down shirts and ear peices. They are going to be the "body guards" for the 3 of us gals who are all going as "princesses". We have pagent tiaras but what kind of dress or suit or what should we wear with them that will still allow us to ride rides, stake out places on curbs for parades and fireworks, be comfortable, etc. Note: we are NOT going to wear heels in WDW, we'll probably be in tennis shoes or sandles depending on the temps.

Chances are we will be shopping at goodwill or some other second hand store so if it gets a little dirty or snagged or smoething it won't be a big deal as these are going to be costumes but everyday wear.

We are all in out 20's and aiming to look like a typical princess vacationing in WDW (like we really know what that looks like :teeth: but we're aiming for as "normal" as the public perceves (sp?) it). Being we are a bit older (in reality) we figured we wanted to stay away from the disney princesses

Last, we are flying in so if it were a "wrinke free" or "Wrinkle resistant" idea it would be even better :thumbsup2 but we all know how to iron if necessary (not really wanted though)

Thanks!

I would look for former bridesmaid dresses and maybe just shorten them.

If you think you'll be sitting on the ground (parade) and going on a lot of rides, I would not get anything too tight or form fitting or really short.

I am using an old maid of honour dress (in blue) to be a fairy god mother, I picked up a reduced dress ($14 marked down from $89) for my mom to be a princess and I found a dress at godwill for $5 for my cousin to be a princess.

Because of the cost, I don't care if they get dirty or if they are no good after the one night.

Exactly, We don't want to spend a lot of money so that we feel fine about sitting on a curb riding rides and such. One question though, would a shortened brides maid dress look strange hemmed to knee length or so? I don't want to pay even $5 to ruin a dress, costume or not.
Thanks Again!

Don't forget to check a local fabric store. You can buy a few yards of shimmery sparklely fabric to drape or add to something. Or buy rhinestones to glue on trim, etc. I like the bridesmaid dress idea too. princess:

Don't hem to knee length - hem to mid-calf.

It is not an unusual length for that style of dress (it's called tea length)

It should keep it from dragging but it will look "normal" (I can't believe I am talking about wearing a princess dress to the MK and mentioning normal in the same sentance).

I would also recommend a skirt that flows away from the body - at least slightly (i.e. don't get long and tight) because otherwise you may end up feeling like a sausage by the end of the night (bridesmaid dresses are not known for their natural fibers - they are mostly synthetics).

modern day princess? great idea! look in fashion mags, go extreme! they are contemporary and dont forget to look like you are hiding behind your sunglasses! Watch Princess Diaries hehehe
Have fun! Good for you for dressing up!

It is sooo much fun to dress up for MNSSHP (no matter what your age ;) )!!
Your ideas sound great - just wanted to remind you that it is usually still quite hot in FL through most of Oct. Last year my gang went the week before Columbus Day and it was HOT . . . all night long until midnight! (and it did rain on and off during our party night - so grab a few see-through ponchos at the $$ store) - you'll have a blast!! - it's a great party ! :thumbsup2
