OK so yesterday impulsively at work i booked a quick 3 day trip to Disney for MNSSHP cus the prices were crazy affordable for flight/room and Ive never been and have had my heart set on making it happen this year. Most likely I'll end up solo which is fine with me, Ive done solo trips in the past and had tons of fun. Originally I wasnt going to dress up at all but looking through pictures is making me want to change my mind lol. Has anyone gone to the party solo and dressed up? I know I overthink stupid things and noone would probably care anyway, but I just had to ask.

I have done the party solo twice and dressed up once. Dressing up was fun but it was hot too. I think if I were to go solo again I would not dress up, but if I was in a group I would.

Thanks for the input! I dont think I would get carried away with a costume, if I decide to do anything Ill probably keep it simple - normal clothes & a few accessories or something like that.

Yeah, the first time I went solo I wanted to dress up and wore a heavy and elaborate costume. It was too hot, and too much trouble, and most people didn't "get" it anyway. I went with a friend last year and dressed up, but kept it very light (it was practically just normal clothes).

There is still confusion about whether or not costumes for adults are permitted. That said I went to DL MNSSHP a few years ago. Dressed as the scare crow from Wizard of Oz and had alot of fun. I still have the photo from Splash Mountain in costume on my phone...

You will have a ball. It will be hot. I go every year with my wife and daughter who is 24. You will have a good time go as you are. Good luck and enjoy the party!

I've been to two MNSSHP's, one alone, one not. Dressed up both times, and I would definitely wear some kind of costume if I went again, especially if I went solo. Costumes are conversation starters, and I had more cheerful interactions with fellow guests those nights than any other time I've been in the parks. I'd just say to keep it relatively simple and light.

When I went solo I hand-stitched a life-size python puppet that covered my entire arm and then wrapped around my neck (simple...hahh...), which was great because I could wear normal clothes otherwise, but got a bit hot anyway because it was like wearing a velvet sleeve and scarf. Got tons of attention for that one, though, and the characters at the meet and greets loved it. Got a fun picture of Tarzan telling my snake off.

When I went with my mom this last fall, we were both pirates. The nice thing about a pirate costume is that you can dress very lightly and have it still be perfectly clear what you're meant to be. Not as many comments on that because it's a bit more common and we didn't go all out, just used things we found in our closets and recycled bits of other old costumes, but I still got compliments and "Hello, Jack Sparrow" here and there.

I've been to 5 mnsshp and have dressed up 3/5 times. The first time I went as Minnie Mouse and got some great character interactions especially with Captain Jack and Mickey (he proposed!). The other 2 times I wore a themed dress from Hot Topic (Tardis Dr Who & R2D2 Star Wars dress) and got jewellery to go with them.

If you're going to get pictures with characters I would definitely go for a costume or if that felt too much perhaps you could Disney bound instead?

I have gone solo 4x to MNSSHP. I dressed up every time, but I think a lot about my costumes and make sure they are something I can live with- not too hot and hopefully comfy shoes, I have made mistakes. I have been Ursula 2x (did not do tentacles, just black sundress, cut to resemble tentacles over a purple skirt, Madam Mim and Megara ( sandal mistake, thought they were comfortable and they were not). I like wigs to make the costume, you can find cheap and fun ones on Amazon. Have not been since the rules changed though. The pics I get in costume are my favorite, I got one with Ariel as Ursula and the pics on the coasters in costume are my favorites.

I've gone numerous times solo to MNSSHP in costume and I'm looking forward to doing it again this year. Although at times I do feel a little bit awkward as an adult in costume because I feel I stand out whereas in my regular street clothes I'm fine.

I'm doing the party alone as well this year, my friend that I'll be in the parks with won't arrive until after the party. A great idea for costumes is Disney bounding. You get to dress up as a character but still be in normal clothing.

My issue is trick or treating alone. Priorities. Why is there no emoji shoving food in his face...

Instead of dressing up, I Disney Bound...you pick a character and use their color scheme in normal clothes to mimic the character. See my Cruella DeVil pic attached, and you'll get the idea.
