Hi to all who have been! Hope you can answer a question for me.....

I always tape the parades & fireworks when at WDW, but have never been at Halloween. I know most parades come down Main St., around the hub past Tomorrowland and over to Frontierland. Is that the same route for the Halloween parade? I want to make sure I get the Headless Horsemen and I would assume he goes along the same path as the parade. I don't want to be on the wrong side of the hub and miss getting a good picture!

Thanks!

BTW, I usually stand next to the trash can that is on the curb edge, my back to just about the entrance Tomorrowland. Gives a great view for taping parades and a great view of the castle for fireworks as well!

1-I know most parades come down Main St., around the hub past Tomorrowland and over to Frontierland.

2- Is that the same route for the Halloween parade?

3- I want to make sure I get the Headless Horsemen and I would assume he goes along the same path as the parade.

4- BTW, I usually stand next to the trash can that is on the curb edge, my back to just about the entrance Tomorrowland. Gives a great view for taping parades and a great view of the castle for fireworks as well!

1- Yes.

2- Nope. Goes opposite direction.

3- Yes.

4- OK. I've shot there, too, but in the case of the PARTY PARADES, you can stand in Town Square
(MK flagpole area) and face the Castle.

That "down Main Street" angle will allow you to get the Castle in the background, if you like.

2- Nope. Goes opposite direction.
Ok, please explain in detail exactly where the parade starts and goes, and a good viewing spot. Where, exactly, would I stand in the hub? I like the trash can because I can rest my camera arm on it while filming. I am VISUAL and it is really hard to picture in my head :goodvibes.

1- Exactly the same route, opposite direction of motion.

2- I mentioned a great spot not in the Hub, but in Town Square.
If you want to stand in the hub, that'll work just great, but the parade will
be "coming at you" from the direction of Liberty Square.

3- There are lots and lots of trash cans along the parade route.

A look at the Parade Route
Disney's (MS) Electrical Parade and the 3 O'Clock Parade both start near the Firehouse and exit near Splash Mtn.
MVMCP and MNSSHP Parades both start near Spalsh Mtn. and exit near the Firehouse.

Thanks for the great map and explanations.....and you made me laugh with the trash can comment! What can I say, I like to rest my arm while filming, that way I don't have to keep my eye glued to the camera and can enjoy the parade!

Ok, made me think.....since we are always up by the hub and have never looked back to notice, if I did stand at Town Square (that is in front of the train station, right?) do they shut off the lights on Main St. for the parade and fireworks? I can imagine the lights would mess with filming it, wouldn't they?

if I did stand at Town Square

1- (that is in front of the train station, right?)

2- do they shut off the lights on Main St. for the parade

3- and fireworks?

4- I can imagine the lights would mess with filming it, wouldn't they?

1- Right. Where the MK flagpole is located.

2- Yes.

3- Nope. They only turn them off over (roughly) 2/3rds of Main Street
for the fireworks. (The 2/3rds closer to the Hub.)
They generally leave the lights of Main Street (and the Train Station) ON
over the (roughly) 1/3rd of Main Street closer to the Train Station.

4- Yup.

I just read in another thread that they reversed the parade route for the 2nd parade - going from Main St. back to Frontierland in hope of reducing the crush of everyone following the parade to the front of the park to exit and swamping the ferry/bus lines all at once. At least that's what I understood the poster to say - they said a CM told them they were testing it and would continue if it helped with the exit crowds after the 2nd parade. Makes sense - did anyone else experience this?

Not on 9/30. Parade went from Frontierland to Main Street both times.

They didn't do that on Sunday's MNHSSHP.

When we took the KTTK tour this week, the guide told us that sometimes they direct the parade in that direction (toward Frontierland) to draw people back into the park rather than having them leave, and other times they point the parade toward Main Street since the crowd will be flowing out afterward anyway.
