Hi, i read that you can stop by city hall to exchange your candy for healthy options. Has anyone done this? What do they give you? How much? If you bring in a full bag of candy, do they give you a full bag of healthy choices? I am not suppose to have much sugar at all, so i try to just avoid it, and i would prefer my kids eat healthier too. I would love to get things like raisins, freeze dried fruits, dried fruits, pretzels, popcorn balls, healthy fruit snacks, etc. However i would not want to bring in their big bags of candy and just get a couple of things.

thanks!

I don't think it works the way you describe. There are sugar free options available at Guest Services but you don't exchange candy you've collected for them. You just go to Guest Services and they will give you a bag of sugar free items. It would just be wasteful to collect candy you know you don't want.

I can't imagine children being able to collect candy/treats, then having to hand it over. Think I would just keep them away from the temptation altogether.

It use to be at most stops you could ask for the alternative. However, where they give handfuls of candy it is usually only 1 or maybe 2 of the alternative. Sometimes the alternative is non-food items, sometimes it is raisins, and one year Jungle Cruise has bananas. The best bet would be to tell the CM before you open your bag that you need the alternative candy. If they seem confused then get the regular stuff and trade it in a GR.

The trade in is not 1 for 1 but they do get a decent bag I've heard.

There is so much to do MNSSHP that if the candy is an issue I would agree with just staying away from the candy stops. There will be a place or two that have other options and they will be posed on the Dis. I would not waste good party time on this activity if you don't want the candy.

We were told about this too and went to trade the items DS couldn't eat as he had just gotten braces, so nothing chewy. Rather than pick through it, they took the whole bag and gave him about 3-5 thin, solid chocolate things, like a small Mickey, lollipop, etc.

If you don't want the candy for you or your children I wouldn't walk around trick-or-treating.
