MNSSHP Fireworks from Poly or late night Oga

My husband and I are coming down at the end of August to celebrate our 10 year anniversary. It's a very short, adults only trip for just the two of us, so I'm trying to decide on the day we're going to Hollywood Studios if I should plan for an after Fantasmic / after park close Oga's reservation or if we should head back to the Poly where we're staying and watch the MNSSHP Fireworks from the beach that night? We have been to Oga's and enjoyed the drinks / atmosphere previously and we've also seen the MNSSHP Fireworks from in the park when we attended the Halloween Party last year. Is the new perspective from the Poly beach worth it or do we just enjoy a late night reservation and empty HS park?

The main draw of watching the fireworks from the beach is watching them with lower crowds. They do pipe the music in, but obviously you don't get the projections.

These are such different experiences that it really just comes down to what you think you'd enjoy more. I know you said it's a very short trip, but do you have any other nights you can watch the fireworks from the beach?

I know, it's so difficult haha

We're going from Monday - Thursday:
  • Monday > Epcot with their Fireworks and EMH
  • Tuesday > DHS (with Fanstasmic) and then Ogas / Beach Fireworks
  • Wednesday > MK with HEW and EMH
  • Thursday > Breakfast and then we leave :(
It's not a big deal either way - like I've said we've done both essentially (and done the Pontoon Firework Cruises before so I kind of know what the fireworks look like from a distance but not MNSSHP ones and didn't know if I was missing a cool view or something potentially from the Poly vantage point).

I hate Oga’s so I vote Poly fireworks and more relaxing drinks back at the resort

Having done both, they really are very different experiences so hard to compare the two. But I will say, as someone who did late night Oga's last month after Fantasmic on my birthday, we had an absolute blast. We did it largely because we were doing Savi's that same evening and wanted to get cool photos with our sabers in an empty SWGE. Photopass CMs were out and doing photo ops that they don't have during the day. We got some truly stunning shots with both our own sabers and the Darksaber for instance.

Also, and I really can't stress this enough, the late night vibe at Oga's is totally different to other lounges I've been to on property except maybe Trader Sam's. I know a lot of people don't like it there for a lot of reasons, but we absolutely loved it. It was very adult for lack of a better term, despite the theming. Lots of locals in SW flavored bounds, all huge SW fans. Very, very few if any kids. The only thing I can compare it to is bars during geek con weekends. I'm curious to see what it's like during the day because there's no way it would be that fun imo. It's actually a must do for us now.

I guess I'm in the minority but the major appeal of watching fireworks at the Poly beach for me is being able to go back to the room right afterwards, not necessarily the view. Having done it several times now, it's not anything I would go out of my way to plan for, especially for a show you've already seen from inside the park. There's really nothing special about the view tbh.

Ooh, hijacking this thread to say you have me SERIOUSLY debating keeping both of my Oga's reservations for an upcoming Aug/Sept trip with a friend ...

I've only ever done it once, and it felt ... fine. It was post-close, but also July 2021 and they LITERALLY brought back mask requirements that day.

So this trip, I booked a lunchtime res for our HS early entry day. And then I booked a second, post-close res for our Fantasmic! night. You know, just in case. Was leaning toward canceling the second but maybe we should just do both. And try a different sugary, sugary pre-mixed drink. :rotfl:

Plus I love R3X so much.
