I can get in at 4pm and ride some rides, by 6 I might as well be somewhere eating since the rides shut down and I'd have to wait in Tomorrowland for the party to start at 7? Do the characters at CP dress up or is it just LTT? I think my crew would like the variety of CP over LTT. Does the Plaza stay open for dinner at 6? Thanks.

Also, if I'm not so worried about selling out, can I arrive at the resort on a Friday and buy ticket for Sunday night party and still qualify for the "advance" purchase discount? Can you buy tickets at POFQ? Thanks.

Unofficially, yes, they have let party goers in after 4:00p with just their party ticket...I expect them to do it again this year but you never know. It's an 'unofficial' policy.

At 6:00p the park closes and they work on clearing it out and getting it ready so if you are not eating in a restaurant, they will ask you to wait in ONE land. Not sure which land as it changes from year to year. Last year it was Adventureland/Frontierland, not Tomorrowland. Then at 7:00p, you can go anywhere.

They do NOT dress up at CP, only LTT; they wear eye masks and special aprons with Boo on them and Pluto wears a pumpkin on his head. All the sit down restaurants stay open till 6:00p and LTT stays open throughout the party (and Tony's did too for the first time last year).

Only the last couple of parties sold out so if you are going early in the month, you should be able to wait to buy your tickets. Yes, you will get the advance price if you do not wait till the day of.

As long as you get your tkts. before the day of event you will get advance purchase discount. Yes, you can get them at guest services at POFQ.
I would call and make adr for dinner around 5pm, on you 180 day mark. A lot of people get the advance tkts with dining and the early times go first. I personally wouldn't want to have dinner in the middle of the party.
Then after dinner you will go the the area of the park designated to wait until 7. The rides will be operating. We've gone to Tomorrowland & Frontierland to wait.
LTT is a character meal so yes they are in costume.

Thanks for the quick and informative replies! We're going early in the month so I want to see the weather predictions before I commit, thanks.

Are all rides shut down between 6-7? If there's anything to ride I'd be tempted to skip dinner since this would be our only major themepark visit of the year.

The rides in the one land left open between 6-7 are running so you can enjoy the rides for that hour.

When a particular party sells out, how crowded does that make the park?

We are planning on trying for tickets on our arrival day, which would be the last Friday before Halloween. I figured waiting until Sunday night or even Halloween night itself would definitly make it more crowded.

That's exactly what I'm interested in. I'd rather have a big late lunch somewhere at 3 and just enjoy the rides IF that is possible from 4-7 but since so many people recommend dinner around 6, I thought all rides might be closed from 6-7. Is the area where all party guests are herded to the area where rides are open so they have something to do? Are the lines there really long and that's why everyone seems to recommend eating between 6-7? Thanks for all the info.

I"m one of those who eats during that hour but from what I've read, it's not really all that crowded. You can get some of rides done during that hour.

Yes, the rides are left open so the guests have something to do for that hour. Last year it was Frontierland/Adventureland but for several years before that it was Tomorrowland. We'll see this year.

Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party...a hard ticket event held after Magic Kingdom closes on select nights in October. It runs 7:00p to Midnight and there's rides, souvenir photo, Halloween parade and fireworks etc...

Tickets went on sale the end of April last year.

The Halloween night party is usually a sellout before that night. The party closest to that also tends to sellout as do the Friday Night ones. You can always order them online and pick them up at the gate. This gets you the advance purchase price. I wouldn't plan to arrive on a friday and expect to get tickets for that night.
