MNSSHP costumes

We are contemplating attending the MNSSHP on Sept. 29th. We are going to be cruising on the Disney Magic the next day. Since I'm trying to cut down on our packing list, will we be in the minority if we do not dress up? I have a DD 11, and a DS 8. We will be flying in that afternoon and will be getting there just in time for the party. My kids want to attend since they are really into all the rides and feel they are going to miss them on the cruise. I feel like we are going to be rushed and exhausted for our next day. If we do go, I want to have simple, simple attire, maybe Halloween shirts instead of costumes. I don't want my kiddos to feel they missed out on the costumes if all other kids are dressed up. Opinions? Thanks for your input.

Halloween shirts are lame!
Are they 56 year old grandmas from Wheaton?
Fed-Ex the costumes to your resort and Fed-Ex them home.
Your kids will feel like L-7's in halloween shirts.
Let them wear costumes, they are only young for so long.

we went last year and DH and i were not dressed up since i was pregnant at the time and could find nothing to fit. Our DD was dressed up however. we felt TOTALLY left out. There were plenty of people doing the shirt thing, but we just wanted the fun of the costume! we really felt in the minority since so many people had FABULOUS costumes!!

I went to the party with my mother and brother last year and did not feel left out. Most of the adults I saw were not dressed up..just the children. I saw a lot of cute costumes though. Toddlers in mickey outfits!!! SOOOOOO CUTE!

The closest I came to a costume for MNSSHP was an orange tshirt. You will not be in the minority without costumes. There are some great ones there though! You can plan that for your next October trip If your kids are going for the rides, they are going to be flying through the queues and might not want to be bothered with full costumes.

What about finding pirate garb that you can wear for MNSSHP and then you can also wear it for the pirate's party on the cruise? That way you're really not overpacking...but planning in advance!

if you look at some of the threads about this it seems just as many adults and kids without costumes as with them on.....I think it depends on what your going for? riding rides or trick or treating? have fun!

Halloween t-shirts are not lame! There are some great ones at Target and Old Navy. The weather at the 3 MNSSHP I have visited has been hot, and many children and adults were wilting in their too warm costumes. I am thinking hard about how to use soley t-shirts for costumes.
