MNSSHP costume...

DS saw a costume in Disney store of a McQueen race car driver and wants it for Halloween. It is cute and one piece, but sort of heavy. Now, if we were going to be in PA for Halloween I would think it perfect, but not sure about FL? We were in WDW 2 years ago for Halloween and it was very warm, we went to MNSSHP on halloween. DS was Peterpan, and only wore a tee under outfit. We will also be cruising on Wonder over holiday, so costume needs to work for both events. Does anyone have costume ideas? an online store that is different than the mainstream ones? I tried to swing him toward a pitcrew or mechanic costume, seemed lightweight, but he was not interested. By the way, DS is turning 5 while on trip. I have also tried to interest him in being a football player, specifically Troy Polamalu, of the Steelers, he loves him and we already have a jersey and football pants, all we need is a wig !! Even though it would not be a Disney costume it would be cute.
Any help, thoughts or comments will be greatly appreciated !!

I just wanted to add that you should try and find a costume that can be made warmer just in case you hit a cold night. Last year we attended MNSSHP on Oct 26 or27 and it was freezing out. We had planned on all being basketball players and we ended up just wearing jeans and sweatshirts instead.

We were there last year too, and went to MNSSHP twice. The first night we were comfortable but the second night was freezing - may have been the same night as PP went in late October - it was only about 48-50 degrees...there were an awful lot of freezing people in their costumes - I especially felt bad for the tinkerbells that night.
Get something that you can layer or remove as necessary.

that was my thought too. Last time we went I had a long sleeve tee and a sweatshirt that would fit under the Peter Pan shirt, but fortunately we needed neither. It is hard to get a 4 or 5 year old to understand the warm/cold concept though....

We are going to the first one on 9/14 and I'm expecting it to be warm. We (my DH and I) are planning on wearing light weight costumes - but will still bring a jacket (just in case).

My sister wen't the last weekend in September 2 years ago and she said it got chilly as the night wore on.

I guess the moral is....dress in layers. Bring a backpack to store clothes to add too, or take off.

I'm going to take my boys a pair of shorts and a tshirt just in case they get too hot in their power ranger costumes. They can still wear the masks and capes, so they'll at least be somewhat in costume.

I am taking 2 costumes for DS- one for cool weather, and one for warm weather!

I was thinking about the two costume deal. If we pick a warmer costume and it ends up being a warm night, we have his pirates attire for the cruise that he could wear. We thought about only having a pirates costume, but DS said that is for pirates night and not Halloween too. He is turning 5 so I understand he wants a costume too. Plus we have a few places to wear the costume, and since the pirates costume cost me about $6, if we wear it once who cares.
I am thinking about creating a Handy Manny costume, since I can't find one. I need to find a green tee, red/white bball hat and yellow gloves...wish me luck, or if you see a costume please let me know !!

I would suggest getting the costume he wants and a CARS t-shirt. If the costume gets too hot, just let him wear the shirt.
