Hi,

I'm going to MNSSHP on September 14th, and I have a question about my costume.

Me and my brother would like to go as a mexican Wrestling Tag Team, and we are planning to wear Wrestling Masks.
I read on different Websites:

Adult Guests may wear masks, but masks must not obstruct vision

That's OK with the Masks, we still can see and hear everything... but now someone told me, "Adults are not allowed to wear masks in the park. You can wear a costume but only children can wear masks. "

Now I'm confused, may be someone has some more informations?

from everything I've read, you're allowed to wear masks as long as it doesn't obstruct your vision. ( and that your costume isn't offensive) :lmao:

someone correct me if this is wrong........

i've never hear that. call and ask a disney cm.
i just thought as an adult your costume cannot be of a disney character that's good enough for people to think you work there and you cant sign autographs. oh and no weapons. it cant be offensive.

So your costume can't be a Disney character if you're an adult? I hadn't heard that one. My two adult roommates went two years in a row, once as John and Wendy Darling, and once as Alice and the Mad Hatter and didn't have any issues. I wonder why?

You can dress up as a Disney character, but you may not sign autographs or pose for pictures. If someone asks you have to tell them you are just a guest in costume.

That makes sense. Thanks for clearing that up! I'd planned on being Jane (from Tarzan) at MNSSHP and was suddenly afraid I wouldn't be able to wear the costume I'm working on.

Not sure about your answer, but just wanted to chime in that we will be at that same party....if I see you two I will stop and say hi

The masks are really at the discretion of the park manager on duty. If there is no chance of being an obstruction, you should be ok. However if security or the park manager feels otherwise, you may be asked to not wear the mask. There was a report last year on a forum of someone who wore a storm trooper costume to the party twice. Once, there was no problem. He had it cleared by security and the park manager. The second time security had no problem with it, but the manager asked him to either carry it or leave the park. But based on the type of mask you are describing you should be ok.

As a PP said, it is really all about how authentic your costume is, and how you act. For most people, it shouldn't be an issue as most costumes sold aren't close enough to cause problems, and most people don't look enough like the character. Some people take it very seriously and make outstanding costumes, and truly look like they could be friends with a character. One such group last year all dressed up as residents of the Haunted Mansion. The three hitchhiking ghosts looked better than the any Disney has ever done, costuming, makeup, and demeanor. After a while of being in park they were asked to take off their costume as people were still confusing them with CM's even though they said they weren't and were not posing for pics.

Hmm... I don't know if that will cause a problem then. I certainly don't plan on acting like Jane, but I'm a seamstress, so my costume is going to be fairly nice/accurate. I am considerably shorter than their Jane, however, and more curvy, so hopefully that will be enough to distinguish me.

OK, first of all:

THANK YOU for the answers! By now, I don't think that there will be a problem with the masks, they are just "normal" Wrestlingmask, no scary face on it or something like that.

And if someone is at the party on Sept 14th, look for the Germans, dressed like a mexican Tag Team :rotfl2:

there were some very Authenic looking disney adult costumes. One was fairy godmother I asked the lady and she was also a seamstress. I think the problem comes if you sign autographs

there were many, many adults in very authentic looking Disney character costumes...in fact the only way you could tell for sure they were not Disney CMs was that they were walking in groups/eating/pushing strollers, etc.

We were amazed at how much $$ & effort some folks put into costuming...obviously they love the holiday & dress-up. :thumbsup2

OK, here is a Pic of the mask I'm wearing...
Do you think that's OK? I heard that we are not allowed to wear masks that covers the hole face...

i cant comment on whether the mask would be okay to wear or not...
but you may want to concider that september in florida is very hot and humid....at night it will still be 75-80 and humid....that mask may get very uncomfortable very quickly

Hmmm... to be honest, I haven't thought about that, but I think you are right...
OK, when it's getting to hot, I can put off the mask easily, and than I can put it on later, may be Inside an air conditioned building...

By the way, I would love to have an Onride Picture from Splash Mountain with that Mask...
