I’m reading rumours that the MNSSHP might start on August 17th as the WDW calendar has an MK 6pm close that day and no fireworks. I’ve also looked at reservations and there are no MK restaurants available to book for TS dinner on that day. Just wondering how/ when we might be able to find out if this is true or not? If not, why might MK close so early on that day? TIA

We won't know until Disney officially releases its party dates.
Last year the announcement was made on April 6th.

I have heard the same rumors. We fly down Aug 15 for our son's first trip (he will be 14 months). If it is in fact MNSSHP, then we will have to go! Could this be the reason that the park hours are not out past Aug 17? It is really tough to plan ADRs without knowing which park we may be at... :guilty:

Unfortunately the rolling 180 day park hour updates have been going on for awhile now. I agree it does make it harder to plan/map out your days, for sure. :-)

This is not exactly true. Go to My Disney Experience, and click on My Itinerary. Under today's date, on the left side, click Add Plans, and then in the drop down, add parks and places. You will now be looking at park hours, on the official Disney World website. Click on the calendar next to today's date, and you can choose, and see park hours, for dates up to, and including, August 26. Using that official Disney information, I see a 6 PM closing on Friday August 17, Tuesday August 21 (which also has a special ticketed event from 7:45 - 9:00 am EMM), and Friday August 24.

Thank you to Tomh who posted this in another discussion. Using MDE on your computer, you CAN see the most up-to-date "official" park hours. Always subject to change of course!

You are most welcome. Someone else was kind enough to show me that little gem :)

Thank you. That’s a really useful little tool. So, now that I’ve looked, I’m wondering what the ‘special ticketed’ event might be at MK between 7.45 - 9am on the 17th? :magnify:

It is a ticketed extra where you are admitted early into the park to have unlimited rides on 7DMT, PP, Pooh ride & carousel & it includes a buffet breakfast in Pinocchio Haus
Ah ok thanks. Wow - Disney are sure trying to squeeze lots of things in (and money out of people!) Thank you for helping out. Going to have to check my plans again now :rolleyes2

I know what you mean. Our two planned days have this & 6pm closes! Trying to rework our whole week:sad2:

So, I’m just checking my plans and have a reservation at Crystal Palace on 7th August at 8.05am. Checking the calendar it now says that there’s a ticketed event on that day between 7.45 and 9am. Does that mean that we will need to buy the special ticket in order to get into the park for our breakfast reservation? We will have ordinary park tickets for that day.

It's rare, but private groups can rent out the MK.

But my other guess is that its a cast member event. Disney does a milestone service anniversary event occasionally (story about one here). This could be one of them. For as long as I can remember, on MNSSHP days the park closes at 7 PM.

No, that “Ticketed Event: 7:45AM-9AM” is Early Morning Magic, a seperate ticketed event. It has no impact on your CP PPO ADR. In fact, a PPO ADR on an EMM morning is a BIG bonus in that it guarantees that the current 9AM park opening will not change, thereby eliminating the risk that your CP PPO ADR could become non-PPO since Disney won’t change hours on that morning. :-)

FWIW: Looks like the first MNSSHP "might" be on or shortly after 08/19 as the day parade is going to a 1400 start time on the 19th as it was during the 2017 parties.

Wow. Thanks so much for posting this. Looks like 2 nights during our trip. I honestly have mixed feelings about this. While we really enjoyed MNSSHP when we did it 10 years ago, August is a bit early for Halloween (but also I know my kids would love it). So much extra $$$ though.
